You know, when I first pulled up to 628 Flinders Street in Docklands, I was honestly a bit skeptical – it’s right there on that bustling stretch where the city meets the harbor, and with all the construction cranes dotting the skyline these days, I figured it might feel more like a work zone than a relaxing getaway. But stepping into the 09D 2Bedroom Abnb-Style Ocean view Apt changed that quick. It’s on the ninth floor (I think – the numbering’s a tad quirky), and the moment you open the door, you’re hit with this expansive living area that screams “Melbourne modern” – think sleek laminate floors that feel cool underfoot after a hot day wandering around, and these massive floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Yarra River and Bolte Bridge like a postcard. The free parking spot downstairs was a godsend, too; I mean, trying to find a spot in Docklands without shelling out $30 a day is a nightmare, especially if you’re driving in from the airport via the Tullamarine Freeway. I parked my rental right there in the secure garage, no fuss, and it made exploring so much easier – hop on the free City Circle tram just a block away on Spencer Street, and you’re in the heart of the CBD in minutes.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it feels like a legit local’s apartment rather than some sterile hotel room. It’s got two bedrooms with those plush queen beds that actually let you sleep through the night – well, mostly; there’s a faint hum from the trams rumbling along Flinders in the mornings, but it quiets down after dark, especially mid-week when Docklands isn’t as packed with footy fans heading to Marvel Stadium (which is literally a 10-minute stroll away, by the way). The kitchen’s fully kitted out – I whipped up brekkie with eggs from the Woolies down on Waterfront Way, and the ocean view (harbor view, really, with that salty breeze sneaking in if you crack a window) made it feel indulgent. Oh, and the bathroom’s got this rain shower that blasts away the city grime after a day at the markets in Queen Vic – though fair warning, the hot water can take a second to kick in, sort of like those older Melbourne buildings. Check-in was a breeze via the app, no awkward lobby waits, but if you’re arriving late, double-check the code because the building’s entry is a bit dimly lit after 10 PM. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during peak hours, probably from all the nearby apartments – but for a 4-star spot with a 9.2 rating, it punches way above.

Honestly, if you’re traveling with a partner or a small family and want that homey vibe without breaking the bank, this is your spot. Melbourne’s Docklands can feel a tad isolated in winter when the wind whips off the water, but come summer, it’s magic – grab coffee at the little cafes along NewQuay Promenade, watch the boats bob, and you’re living like a local. I stayed during a quiet shoulder season in April, and it was peaceful; avoid peak events like the Grand Prix if you hate crowds.   Location, free parking! Spacious and clean unit with arguably the best views in Melbourne. Tram stops at front of building made it easy to move about with two young children.

  The beds were very comfortable, even the pull out couch was great. Amenities were clean. Would have loved a little morning pack ie: some milk for coffee or something however the 7/11 was 2 min walk. Didn't have a chance to check out the buildings amenities but did have sauna & gym & pool available. building concierge was brilliant.
