Amazing Accommodations: Vogue
I remember pulling up to Amazing Accommodations: Vogue on Malcolm Street in South Yarra – you know, that leafy pocket of Melbourne where the vibe shifts from the gritty CBD hustle to something a bit more polished, with those grand old Victorian terraces lining the roads.
It’s tucked away on a quieter stretch, but honestly, you’re just a five-minute stroll from the chaos of Chapel Street, where the cafes spill out onto the sidewalks and the boutiques are always buzzing, especially on weekends when the locals flock to spots like the Prahran Market for fresh produce or a quick flat white. I arrived mid-afternoon during spring – Melbourne’s unpredictable weather was playing nice that day, with a crisp breeze carrying the scent of jacaranda blooms from the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens. Check-in was straightforward, though the front desk felt a tad understaffed; the staff were friendly enough, chatting about the best tram route into the city (take the 78 from Toorak Road, it saves you the walk). The lobby has this sleek, modern edge – think glossy tiles underfoot and abstract art on the walls that nods to the “Vogue” name without trying too hard. But yeah, parking’s a bit of a nightmare here; street spots are scarce, and their underground garage fills up fast, so if you’re driving, aim for off-peak hours or just Uber it from the airport.
What really stuck with me about the place is how it balances that 4-star comfort with a no-fuss attitude – rooms are spacious, with those big windows letting in heaps of natural light, and the beds are plush enough to sink into after a day wandering the Yarra River trails (pro tip: rent a bike from the share stations on Domain Road, it’s a game-changer for exploring). Mine had a little balcony overlooking the treetops, and while the decor’s got a trendy, minimalist vibe – exposed brick accents and neutral tones – it’s not without its quirks; the bathroom tiles felt a smidge dated, and the AC hummed a little louder than I’d like at night, especially when the trams rumble by on nearby streets during rush hour. Still, the free Wi-Fi was solid for streaming, and they have a small gym downstairs that’s actually usable, not one of those token setups. Breakfast in the on-site cafe was a highlight – fresh pastries and decent coffee, though nothing groundbreaking compared to the roasteries on Greville Street just around the corner. I mean, if you’re here in summer, the rooftop terrace becomes a hidden gem for evening drinks, catching the sunset over the skyline, but winters can get chilly up there, so pack layers.
All in all, with a 7.6 rating, it’s not pretending to be the Ritz – there are fancier spots in South Yarra if you’ve got the budget – but for what it is, Vogue delivers solid value, especially if you’re basing yourself for a few days to hit up events at the Melbourne Cricket Ground or just soak in the suburb’s laid-back scene. I’d go back, well, maybe not for a splurge vacation, but definitely for a practical stay that feels connected to the real Melbourne pulse. If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, it works great; families might find the rooms a touch snug for longer hauls. Just time it right – avoid peak tourist season around the Australian Open unless you love the energy.

What Our Guests Say
It was lovely! Woolworths just below, sauna and pool on the second floor. And very comfortable beds.
Loved staying here and would recommend anyone looking for a short time appartement, to stay here! If we ever visit Melb again, we will stay here, no doubt.
Reading this? Book! Good price for this place, and a tramstop just outside too.
Location was great - right on top of Woolworths for any daily essentials, and close to everything in South Yara for food and shopping. Easy walk to public transport. Great to have management on site, and responsive to text.
Accommodation was basic (was obviously well loved by other travellers) but had everything I needed for a two week stay (including a full family size fridge) and was clean. Onsite facilities gym and pool were good too.
