Aussie Escape Apartments-Skyline Collins Tower Overview
You know, I stumbled upon the Aussie Escape Apartments-Skyline Collins Tower during a quick getaway to Melbourne last spring, and honestly, it turned out to be one of those spots that just clicks for a city break. Pulling up to 568 Collins Street right in the heart of the CBD, I remember dodging the afternoon tram rush – those iconic ding-ding bells echoing off the high-rises – and thinking, “Alright, this is smack in the middle of it all.” The building itself is this sleek tower that blends right into the skyline, not flashy like some of the newer spots over on Southbank, but solid and unpretentious. Check-in was a breeze, even though I arrived a bit early after a delayed flight from Sydney; the staff – a mix of locals with that laid-back Aussie vibe – sorted me out with a smile and a tip on where to grab a decent flat white nearby (spoiler: it’s that little laneway cafe on Little Collins, just a two-minute stroll).
What really sold me on the place was the apartment setup – I mean, it’s not your standard hotel room; these are proper self-contained pads with full kitchens, which came in handy when I picked up some fresh produce from Queen Victoria Market (about a 15-minute walk up Elizabeth Street, dodging the street performers on Swanston). My unit on a higher floor had these massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Yarra River and the twinkling lights of Docklands at night – seriously, watching the sunset with a cold one from the balcony felt like a mini escape from the bustle below. The rooms are modern without being sterile, you know? Soft linens that actually feel lived-in, a comfy couch for crashing after a day exploring Federation Square or catching a show at the nearby arts precinct. Oh, and parking – if you’re driving in, they’ve got secure spots in the basement, but fair warning, it’s a bit tight maneuvering during peak hours when Collins turns into a madhouse with office workers spilling out. Noise-wise, it’s Melbourne central, so there’s that constant hum of traffic and the occasional siren, but the double-glazed windows do a decent job muffling it – I slept like a log, even on a Friday night when the bars on Flinders Lane were pumping. One minor gripe? The Wi-Fi can be spotty during busy evenings, sort of like everywhere in the CBD when everyone’s streaming, but it didn’t ruin the stay.
All in all, if you’re after a 4-star spot that feels more like a home base than a transient hotel – especially for families or anyone staying longer than a weekend – this one’s a winner with its 8.3 rating that actually holds up. It’s perfect for soaking in Melbourne’s vibe without breaking the bank, whether you’re here for the laneway street art, a footy match at the MCG (just a tram ride away), or dodging the unpredictable weather in autumn. I’d go back in a heartbeat, well, maybe avoiding the height of summer when the crowds swarm – but yeah, it’s got that authentic city pulse that makes you feel like a local for a bit.

We were really impressed by this accommodation! It exceeded expectations. We booked an apartment for a group of 4 with secure car parking. The apartment was really modern with stunning views and amenities like coffee, tea, laundry facilities and we also had use of the pool and gym included! The staff were also really helpful with the car parking and allowed us late check out which was a massive help before our onward journey. Can’t fault this place!
