Avani Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences Overview
I remember pulling up to the Avani Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences on William Street – you know, that bustling stretch right in the heart of the CBD, just a stone’s throw from Flagstaff Gardens. It was one of those crisp Melbourne mornings in spring, and honestly, after dodging the trams on Collins Street, finding parking wasn’t as nightmarish as I’d feared; there’s a secure spot underground, though it costs a bit extra if you’re not careful with the booking. Walking into the lobby, it hit me – this place has that sleek, modern vibe without trying too hard, like it’s nodding to the jazz theme with some subtle art deco touches and a playlist humming softly in the background. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were chatty Aussies who actually gave me tips on avoiding the lunch rush at Queen Victoria Market, which is literally a five-minute walk away. I mean, if you’re into fresh produce or just people-watching, that’s your spot – but go early, or you’ll be elbowing through crowds.
What really sold me on the Jazz Corner, though, was the apartment-style setup – we’re talking full kitchens with proper cooktops and fridges that don’t feel like afterthoughts, which was a lifesaver for whipping up brekkie from market finds instead of blowing the budget on cafes every day. My room on the higher floors overlooked the city grid, and at night, with the lights twinkling and faint echoes of street musicians drifting up from Lonsdale Street, it felt sort of magical, you know? (Though, fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, the occasional tram rumble might nudge you awake – earplugs helped me.) The pool area up top is a hidden gem, especially in summer when the city’s humidity kicks in; it’s got that rooftop infinity edge with views toward the Yarra, and I spent a lazy afternoon there sipping on a flat white from the in-house cafe, which does a mean avocado toast. Amenities-wise, it’s solid for a 4-star – clean gym, reliable Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch during my Zoom calls – but it’s not overly flashy. Well, except for the jazz nights they sometimes host in the lounge; caught one with a local sax player, and it paired perfectly with a glass of Yarra Valley pinot.
All in all, if you’re visiting Melbourne and want something that feels like a home base rather than just a hotel room – especially for longer stays or families – this place nails it with an 8.6 rating that feels spot-on. It’s smack in the middle of things, so you’re steps from the free tram zone to hit up Federation Square or even wander over to Hardware Lane for dinner vibes, but it stays surprisingly quiet inside. Sure, the decor’s a tad minimalist for some tastes, and peak season (think Australian Open time) means booking ahead or facing higher rates, but honestly, I’d go back in a heartbeat. It’s that sweet spot of comfort and convenience without the pretension.
Melbourne’s experiences offer urban adventures with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to discover daily life in this culturally diverse Australian metropolis known for its parks and gardens.

Reviews of Avani Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences

We booked the Ella Fitzgerald room but were upgraded to the Charlie Parker room. The bed is so comfortable! The staff were very friendly. Location was excellent with tram no. 58 pretty much at the door step. Queen Victoria Market is one tram stop or 5 minutes walk away. 24hr minimart just downstairs with the friendliest proprietor. Really appreciated the balcony, kitchenette and washer/dryer facilities. Would definitely stay here again, we loved it.

The staff had been exceptional! Especially a gentleman called Lakshman Sri Lankan ! An absolutely brilliant person to be handling your stay. The hotel it’s self is in an incredible area , very safe and a beautiful park perfect for stays with kids needing to get out of the hotel for a play just across the street.
Did I mention it had a saxophone in the room and blue heavy velvet curtains – very regalAnn from United Kingdom (9/10)

Facilities were nice, the rooms were good too! Beds were firm, but still comfy. The amenities in the room (mini fridge and stove) came in handy for a long week. Breakfast was good, but it was the same everyday. Perfect location, right across from metro station and trams so easy to travel in the city.
