Bright studio next to Flagstaff Garden w-view#OA26 Overview
I’ve gotta say, when I first rolled up to the Bright Studio next to Flagstaff Gardens on William Street – you know, that bustling stretch right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD – I was already half in love with the place before I even stepped inside. It’s tucked away at 350 William, super close to the Flagstaff train station, which made getting there from the airport a breeze on the SkyBus (honestly, skip the taxis if you’re traveling light; it’s way cheaper and drops you practically at the door). The building itself has this modern, unpretentious vibe – not flashy, but clean and welcoming, with a secure entry that buzzes you in after a quick code from the host. My check-in was all self-service via an app, which was smooth as, though I did fumble with the lock a bit at first – blame it on jet lag. But once inside, oh man, the space opens up into this bright, airy studio that’s way more spacious than the photos suggest. The floor-to-ceiling windows frame a killer view of Flagstaff Gardens across the street – think lush green lawns and those massive Moreton Bay figs that locals picnic under on weekends. I mean, waking up to that, with the morning sun streaming in and the faint scent of eucalyptus wafting through if you crack a window, it’s like having your own private slice of Melbourne’s park life without leaving the bed.
What really sets this spot apart, though – and I say this as someone who’s crashed in a fair few Melbourne pads over the years – is how it nails that sweet spot between convenience and chill. You’re literally steps from the gardens, which are perfect for a morning jog or just wandering over to Hardware Lane for a coffee (pro tip: hit up the little laneway cafes early before the office crowd descends; the flat whites there are next-level). It’s a quick tram ride down to Queen Victoria Market – I popped over on a Saturday for fresh produce and those addictive doughnuts – or you can stroll to Lygon Street in Carlton for proper Italian eats if you’re feeling peckish in the evening. The studio itself is kitted out smartly: a comfy queen bed with crisp linens that actually feel luxurious for a 4-star setup, a compact kitchenette where I whipped up brekkie (the induction cooktop heats up fast, but watch the smoke alarm – it’s sensitive), and a bathroom with rain shower that blasts away any travel grime. Noise-wise, William Street can get a bit lively during rush hour with trams clanging by, but it quiets down nicely after dark, especially mid-week when the city’s energy dips. Well, except for the occasional siren – it’s the CBD, after all. Parking’s a hassle if you’ve got a car (street spots are metered and competitive), so I’d recommend ditching the wheels and embracing the public transport; it’s what makes Melbourne tick.
Look, if you’re planning a trip to Melbourne and want somewhere that feels like a local’s hideaway rather than a generic hotel room, this studio’s a gem – especially for couples or solo travelers who appreciate views and walkability over bells and whistles. At a solid 9 rating, it’s earned its stripes, and honestly, for the price, you’d be hard-pressed to find better in this pocket of town. I stayed during spring, when the gardens are blooming and the weather’s just right for exploring, but it’d be cozy in winter too, with that heater cranking. Just book ahead for peak seasons like the Aussie Open; spots like this fill up fast. You know what? Next time I’m in town, I’m heading straight back – it’s that kind of place.
Travelers should plan their Melbourne visit at least two months ahead for major events like Melbourne International Comedy Festival and White Night celebrations, ensuring the best experiences and prime access to popular precincts and attractions.

Superb – Amberlee from Australia – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

Great place for a Melbourne stay – Iwtd999 from United Kingdom – 10 November 2024 (9/10)
Leisurely 15 minutes walk from Skybus drop-off at Spencer Street.
Simple and easy instructions to pick-up keys (2 minutes walk from apartment).
Fluid and responsive communication with the host, Ming.
Clean apartment with everything included as described.
Great view of the city from the balcony for some stargazing on a clear night.
Comfortable bed and of a good size for 2 adults.
Speedy elevator towards the top of the high-rise where the apartment is.
Local to supermarkets, parks, rivers, key venues etc.
Accessible to public transport.
Had some issues with internet and powering the oven, which were resolved due to communication with our host.
What could be improved: Water pressure in the shower could be better, but honestly, we weren't too bothered.
Internet was offline on our last day until the afternoon due to maintenance, however, Ming was apologetic and assured us that it would come back online, which it did. Our work around was to use the local apartment hotel internet.
