I remember pulling up to 105 Clarendon Street in Southbank after a long drive from the airport – honestly, finding free parking right there in the heart of Melbourne felt like winning the lottery, you know?
I remember pulling up to 105 Clarendon Street in Southbank after a long drive from the airport – honestly, finding free parking right there in the heart of Melbourne felt like winning the lottery, you know? In a city where spots are gold and meters eat your change, that perk alone saved me a headache (and probably 50 bucks a day). The building’s this sleek high-rise, nothing flashy from the outside, but once you buzz in and take the elevator up to level 38 – whoa. My first thought was, “Okay, this is why they call it ‘AMAZINGVIEW’ in all caps.” Stepping into the apartment, it’s got that designer vibe without trying too hard – think clean lines, plush couches that actually feel lived-in, and a kitchen stocked with decent appliances, not those flimsy ones you get in some rentals. I mean, I whipped up a quick brekkie using the full-sized fridge and stovetop, and it didn’t feel like a chore.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the location – Southbank’s this buzzing pocket right by the Yarra River, and from up here, you’re basically eye-level with the skyline. I spent evenings on the balcony sipping a local pinot (picked up from the South Melbourne Market, just a short tram ride away on the 109 line that rattles down Clarendon), watching the lights dance off the water and the Eureka Tower glowing like some futuristic beacon. It’s sort of magical at dusk, with that faint hum of the city below – traffic on Queens Bridge, maybe a distant tram bell – but at that height, it’s more white noise than disturbance. Well, except during peak hour; things can get a bit lively down there, but the double-glazed windows keep it muffled. The apartment’s got all the mod cons – fast Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch once while I streamed footy, a washer-dryer combo that’s a godsend after muddy walks in the Botanic Gardens (cross the river via the pedestrian bridge, it’s like 10 minutes), and even air con that blasts cold during those sweltering Melbourne summers. Oh, and check-in was a breeze; it’s keyless entry with codes sent via app, no fussing with front desks at odd hours.
Look, if you’re heading to Melbourne for the vibes – maybe catching a show at the Arts Centre or wandering the laneways off Flinders Street – this spot’s a no-brainer. It’s not perfect; the building’s elevators can be slow during busy weekends when everyone’s heading to Crown Casino (literally a five-minute stroll along the promenade, past those fire-show pillars that light up at night), and the bathroom’s on the smaller side for groups. But honestly, for a 4-star setup with a 9 rating, it punches above its weight. The views alone make you feel like you’re in your own little penthouse, and with free parking thrown in, it’s practical for road trippers or anyone dodging the CBD chaos. I’d book it again in a heartbeat – especially in spring, when the jacarandas are blooming and the river paths are quiet mid-week. Just pack light; those high floors mean no lugging heavy bags if the lift’s playing up.
Early hotels booking in Melbourne secures theatre premieres, hidden supper clubs, and sunrise balloon flights over the Dandenongs.

What Our Guests Say
Very good
Exceptional Excellent
Great location, comfortable and quiet Great location and very quiet. Really comfortable and had everything you would need - kitchen bits and pieces etc. Key pick up and car park was abit confusing, however instructions and pictures were great and helpful. Early check in communication was great.
What could be improved: Could do with a few extra power points especially in bedroom, for bedside light. Couldn’t find the glass recycling bin downstairs despite signs. Cleaning wasn’t 100% - few things missed but pretty good.
Fantastic Location & Facilities Everything was straight forward with well documented instructions for collection of keys, parking and access to the property. I had a couple of queries which were answered within minutes. Location is superb - close to everything, we hope to use this accommodation again for any other visits to the CBD.
