Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the East Melb 2bed parking pet friendly place last autumn when I was in Melbourne for a quick getaway with my dog, and honestly, it felt like hitting the jackpot in a city where finding decent parking is basically a sport. Tucked away on Albert Street in East Melbourne – that’s just a stone’s throw from the Fitzroy Gardens, where the leaves were turning all those fiery reds and golds – it’s this cozy two-bedroom apartment setup that doesn’t scream “hotel” at all. More like crashing at a friend’s well-kept pad, you know? I pulled up around midday, and the check-in was a breeze – no fuss with a front desk, just a key code emailed ahead, which was perfect because I hate those awkward lobby waits. The place has that fresh, lived-in smell, like clean linen mixed with a hint of eucalyptus from the nearby parks, and the balcony overlooked a quiet stretch of street where you could hear the distant hum of trams rattling along Victoria Parade without it being too intrusive. Oh, and the parking spot? A godsend – secure and right downstairs, which meant no circling blocks like you do in the CBD, especially during footy season when the MCG is packed and everything turns into a madhouse.
What really sold me, though – and I mean, as someone who’s dragged a pup around half of Victoria – is how genuinely pet-friendly it is. They don’t just say it; there’s a little welcome kit with bowls and treats, and the floors are this easy-to-clean timber that doesn’t show every paw print. My border collie, Max, had a ball romping in the nearby gardens (just cross over to Wellington Parade and you’re there), and we even wandered down to the Yarra River trails for morning walks – it’s all so walkable, sort of leafy and suburban but with that inner-city buzz. The apartment itself is solid four-star stuff: two comfy beds with those plush pillows that make you sink right in, a full kitchen where I whipped up brekkie using stuff from the Queen Vic Market (a 15-minute stroll away, if you’re into that fresh produce vibe), and even a washer-dryer, which saved me from lugging dirty clothes home. Well, okay, the Wi-Fi could be a tad spotty during peak evenings – probably from all the streaming in the building – but nothing a quick reset didn’t fix. And noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful for Melbourne; the thick windows block out most of the Albert Street traffic, though you might catch the occasional siren from the hospitals nearby, like the Epworth over on Bridge Road.
All in all, if you’re traveling with a pet or just need space to spread out without the sterile hotel feel, this spot’s a winner – especially in spring or summer when East Melbourne’s parks are at their best and you can avoid the winter chill that seeps into some older buildings. I left feeling like I’d found a little secret in the city, you know what I mean? It’s not flashy, but it’s real and practical, and with that 8.8 rating floating around, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Next time I’m in town for the Australian Open or whatever, I’ll be booking it again – beats those crammed CBD hotels hands down.

Quite easy but the address used the flat number first. It would have been easier to find if it had the street address first

The apartment is in an amazing location. With trams at the front door, and a supermarket in the building, you don't get much more ease. Easy to be in the city centre within about 10 minutes thanks to the frequency of transport. The fitout is really nice, and there's plenty of cookware, etc. which makes the every day pretty comfortable. The views of the city are truly amazing, watching the sunsets through the buildings was particularly enjoyable. Being able to have the dogs with us was a plus as well.
