Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon the Emporium-Melbourne Central-City view in shopping hotspots – Pokemon during a quick getaway to Melbourne last spring, and honestly, it felt like I’d hit the jackpot without even trying. Tucked right on 250 Elizabeth Street, smack in the heart of the CBD, this place is basically fused to the Emporium and Melbourne Central shopping complexes – I mean, you step out the door and you’re already dodging trams and weaving through crowds heading to Bourke Street Mall or those hidden laneways like Hardware Lane for a coffee fix. I arrived around midday, and check-in was a breeze; the staff were these laid-back locals who chatted about the best spots for dumplings in Chinatown (which is just a five-minute stroll away, by the way). The lobby’s got this modern vibe, all sleek lines and big windows letting in that crisp Melbourne light, but it’s not stuffy – more like a cool apartment building with a quirky twist. Oh, and that name? Turns out the “Pokemon” bit is a fun nod to some themed decor in certain rooms; mine had these subtle Pikachu motifs on the cushions, which cracked me up after a long flight. It’s a solid 4-star spot with a 9.7 rating that actually feels earned, not just hype.

What really sold me, though, was sinking into that king bed after a day of exploring – the rooms are spacious, with these massive floor-to-ceiling windows framing killer city views over the skyline, especially at dusk when the lights start twinkling and you can hear the faint hum of the city below. Elizabeth Street can get noisy with the trams clanging by (earplugs helped at night, fair warning), but it’s that authentic Melbourne energy, you know? The kitchenette was a lifesaver – I whipped up breakfast with goodies from Queen Victoria Market, just a 10-minute walk north, where the air’s thick with the smell of fresh doughnuts and spices. Amenities-wise, there’s fast Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch once during my Zoom calls, a gym that’s compact but well-equipped (think treadmills with a view), and even a little balcony where I sipped my morning flat white, watching shoppers bustle into the Emporium below. It’s not perfect – the bathroom’s on the smaller side, and parking’s a hassle if you’re driving (better to tram it in from the airport), but those minor gripes fade when you’re this central. During peak season like summer festivals, it books up fast, so snag a spot early if you want that quiet hour vibe before the evening rush.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to dive headfirst into Melbourne’s shopping and food scene without wasting time on commutes, this is your spot – it’s like having the city’s pulse right at your doorstep. I left feeling recharged, with a suitcase full of bargains from the nearby hotspots, and yeah, I’d book it again in a heartbeat. Just remember to layer up; that southern wind can sneak up on you even in the rooms.

Chloe had everything organised i.e . shampoos/ tea coffee and many more. Location really central and close to tram stop and malls. The apartment felt homely and unique. Beds were comfy. Check in details were sent with lots of details and photos which made it really easy. Great stay for a central, value for money stay in Melbourne.
