Fantastic 3 Bedroom Apartment in Southbank
You know, I stumbled upon the Fantastic 3 Bedroom Apartment in Southbank during a quick getaway to Melbourne last spring, and honestly, it felt like hitting the jackpot after a string of cramped hotel stays.
You know, I stumbled upon the Fantastic 3 Bedroom Apartment in Southbank during a quick getaway to Melbourne last spring, and honestly, it felt like hitting the jackpot after a string of cramped hotel stays. Tucked away on Kavanagh Street – that’s just a stone’s throw from the Yarra River promenade, where locals jog at dawn and tourists snap selfies with the skyline – this place is one of those hidden gems that doesn’t scream “tourist trap.” I arrived around midday, dodging the usual Southbank bustle from the nearby Crown Casino crowds spilling out onto Clarendon Street, and check-in was a breeze; no stuffy front desk, just a quick code entry system that worked flawlessly (though I did fumble it once because, well, jet lag). Stepping inside, the apartment hit me with that fresh, airy vibe – think polished wooden floors that creak just a little underfoot, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows letting in the hum of the city below. It’s rated a solid 9.3 for a reason, but what really sold me was the balcony overlooking the river; I spent my first evening there sipping a flat white from the in-unit Nespresso machine, watching the ferries glide by while the scent of eucalyptus from the nearby Botanic Gardens drifted up on the breeze. Parking? A godsend in this part of town – there’s secure underground spots, which saved me from circling Flinders Street like a lost soul during peak hour.
What makes this spot special, I mean really stand out, is how it blends that homey apartment feel with just enough luxury to make you forget you’re not in your own place. The three bedrooms are generously sized – the master has this king bed that’s like sinking into a cloud, with blackout curtains that actually block out the faint glow from the Eureka Tower at night (though you might hear a bit of distant tram clatter if you’re a light sleeper, especially on weekends when the arts precinct over on St Kilda Road gets lively). The kitchen’s fully kitted out, with a dishwasher that doesn’t rattle like some I’ve encountered, and I whipped up a brekkie using goodies from the South Melbourne Market, which is an easy 10-minute walk away – pro tip, grab some fresh sourdough from there if you’re into that. The living area flows nicely onto the balcony, perfect for groups or families; we had mates over one night, and it didn’t feel cramped at all. Oh, and the bathroom – spotless, with those rain showerheads that make you linger a tad too long. It’s not flawless, mind you; the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during a Netflix binge, but nothing a quick reset couldn’t fix. Southbank can get buzzing in summer with festivals at the NGV or events at the MCG, so book ahead if you’re aiming for quieter vibes in winter.
All in all, if you’re heading to Melbourne and want more than a sterile hotel room – something that lets you live like a local without the hassle – this apartment on Kavanagh Street is where it’s at. It’s got that 4-star polish without the pretension, and at a rating like 9.3, you’re basically guaranteed a memorable stay. I left feeling recharged, already plotting my next visit; you know what, you probably will too. Just remember to wander down to the river for sunset – it’s one of those simple Melbourne joys that sticks with you.

What Our Guests Say
fantastic location and apartment
The location is excellent, views are incredible (front row seats to watch the early morning balloon excursions) and the apartment very neat and tidy. Communications with the host was prompt and stress free. We departed exceptionally early on the day of check out and the host was extremely accommodating to our request. Apartment is within walking distance to tram stops (public transport) and surrounded by nice restaurants and cafes.
We loved everything about our stay! From ease of picking up the keys, location, views from the apartment, facilities, cleanliness, friendliness of host, parking, spacious accommodation that met our needs and more! We loved that we could park our car and walk, easily accessible to Melbourne's key attractions and a place to rest from the busy city! How lovely to return back to the apartment and be able to have a swim! Will certainly aim to return on a future visit!
Clean, very well equipped! We loved the little extras such as a bowl of chocolates
Location. Effective communication. Accessibility. The extras that were put in the pantry. Milk options in the fridge to use. Great iron and ironing board. TV great size!
Very clean. Great communication.
Everything!
Location, level, fully equipped was awesome.
The location is very good and the apartment is quite spacious. Very handy to have some breakfast essentials ready provided. The host responded very quickly to a couple of queries that we raised.
The position of the property was great short walk to everything. Little park at the end of the street and supermarket was amazing. The apartment itself was spacious and clean and amazing views. The little extras that the host provided such as milk and snack was so thoughtful.
