Gorgeous 1B Docklands apt Amazing view facility#MQ36
I remember pulling up to 628 Flinders Street in Docklands after a quick tram ride from Southern Cross Station – you know, that massive hub where all the trains and coaches converge, making it super easy if you're coming in from the airport.
I remember pulling up to 628 Flinders Street in Docklands after a quick tram ride from Southern Cross Station – you know, that massive hub where all the trains and coaches converge, making it super easy if you’re coming in from the airport. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first because Docklands can feel a tad isolated compared to the bustling laneways of the CBD, but this place, the Gorgeous 1B Docklands apt (they tag it with that #MQ36 thing, which I guess is for their booking system), totally changed my mind. Check-in was a breeze – no front desk hassle, just a key code sent via app, and boom, you’re in. I stepped inside around dusk, and the first thing that hit me was this massive floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the Yarra River and the Bolte Bridge all lit up like a postcard. It smelled faintly of fresh linen and that crisp harbor air seeping in – not overpowering, but enough to make you feel like you’re right on the water’s edge without the salty stickiness you’d get in St Kilda.
What really makes this spot special, though, is how it balances that apartment vibe with hotel-like perks – it’s a one-bedroom setup, so plenty of space for a solo traveler or a couple, with a kitchenette that’s actually functional (I whipped up a quick brekkie using stuff from the nearby Coles on Collins Street extension). The views? Amazing doesn’t even cover it; you’re gazing out at the marina and those twinkling city lights, especially magical at night when the ferries glide by silently. There’s a gym and pool in the building – nothing flashy, but clean and rarely crowded, which is a godsend during Melbourne’s unpredictable summer heatwaves when everyone’s escaping indoors. I mean, well, parking’s a minor pain if you’ve got a car; spots are limited and pricey in the underground lot, so I’d recommend ditching the wheels and using the free tram zone that loops right past Flinders Street. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly quiet for such a central spot – you might hear the occasional tram ding or event buzz from Marvel Stadium down the road (catch a footy game if you’re here in winter), but the double glazing keeps it mellow. Oh, and the bed – plush, with those high-thread-count sheets that make you sink in after a day wandering the Queen Victoria Market, which is just a 15-minute walk away if you cut through the back streets.
Look, if you’re after that authentic Melbourne experience without the tourist trap prices of Southbank hotels, this place is a winner. It’s got that 4-star polish but feels lived-in, like a friend’s sleek pad – and with a perfect 10 rating, I’m not the only one raving. Sure, the bathroom’s on the compact side (no tub, just a rain shower that packs a punch), but who cares when you’ve got those views stealing the show? I’d book it again in a heartbeat, especially off-season in autumn when Docklands is less windy and the cafes along the waterfront are buzzing with locals grabbing flat whites. Trust me, it’s the kind of spot that makes you linger a bit longer in the mornings, coffee in hand, just soaking it all in.
Hotel in Melbourne bookings surge before Australian Open matches, so fans secure courtside stays months in advance.

What Our Guests Say
A cozy and convenient staywith a few minor drawbacks, but overall a great experience. Has a wonderful view of the City, Yarra river. The place is well-equipped and in a great location. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including free laundry detergent and basic kitchen utensils. The atmosphere felt very homey, which we really appreciated.
What could be improved: That said, the pillow was a bit too firm for our liking, and the blanket could have been cleaner. The shower water pressure was also on the lower side.
Overall, though, we had a wonderful experience and truly enjoyed our stay.
