I remember stepping off the tram on Elizabeth Street – you know, right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, where the bustle hits you with that mix of coffee aromas from nearby laneways and the distant hum of market vendors at Queen Vic just a short walk north. Honestly, finding the entrance to this place, Gorgeous City Views on the 64th floor, felt a bit like a treasure hunt at first – it’s tucked into 442 Elizabeth, amid all those trendy cafes and vintage shops that line the street. But once I buzzed in and rode that sleek elevator up (it takes forever, but hey, builds the anticipation), the doors opened to this sprawling 3-bedroom apartment that just screams “you’ve arrived.” The views? Oh man, they’re insane – floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Yarra River snaking through the city, with the Eureka Tower poking up like a giant glass finger in the distance. I mean, waking up to that panorama at sunrise, with the first light turning everything golden, it’s the kind of thing that makes you forget you’re in a rented spot.

What really sold me, though, was how lived-in and practical it all felt – not some sterile hotel room, but a proper apartment with a full kitchen stocked with basics (think decent cookware, even a coffee machine that doesn’t taste like regret). The three bedrooms are spacious enough for a family or a group of mates, each with plush beds that actually let you sink in after a day traipsing around – I crashed hard after exploring Chinatown’s dumpling spots, just a five-minute stroll away on Little Bourke. There’s a pool and gym on-site too, which is a godsend in Melbourne’s unpredictable weather; the pool’s got this infinity edge that makes you feel like you’re swimming above the clouds, though it can get a tad crowded around sunset when everyone wants that Instagram shot. The gym’s solid for a quick workout – free weights and treadmills with those same killer views – but, well, it’s not massive, so if you’re there during peak hours (like early mornings when the office crowd filters in), you might have to wait your turn. Noise-wise, being so high up mutes the street chaos below; you get a faint buzz from trams rattling along Elizabeth, but it’s more soothing than disruptive, especially at night when the city lights twinkle like stars.

Look, with a 7.8 rating and four stars, it’s not flawless – parking’s a nightmare in this part of town (better to ditch the car and use the trams or walk to spots like Federation Square), and check-in can be self-service via app, which is convenient but sort of impersonal if you’re jet-lagged. But for anyone wanting to feel like a local without the hassle, this place nails it. It’s steps from Lygon Street’s Italian eats or the graffiti-filled Hosier Lane for that artsy vibe, and in summer, when Melbourne’s alive with festivals, those views make evenings magical. I’d go back in a heartbeat – especially off-season in winter, when it’s quieter and you can snag a deal. If you’re after space, scenery, and that effortless city access, this apartment’s a winner.

  Breathtaking views from every room. Like the simple and neat interior design. Nice Lighting. all rooms have air-conditioned/heater.

  Views were amazing. Location was good. Apartment size and layout was great. Pool was fabulous.
  
  What could be improved: The window furnishings were broken and did not function properly and actually resulted in injury. Resulting in having no way of closing blinds in two rooms and in one no way of opening them. This was noted on the first day and not attended to for our 5 day stay. A second key was not provided even after requesting. As access to the apartment building and lift required the key and as it is a 3 bedroom apartment we had multiple people staying that could not access accommodation freely. A few cleaning issues also and a few missing items.

  Well appointed unit with fantastic views over Melbourne and sunset. Absolute great downtown location also next to the famous Queen Viktoria markets. I can highly recommend this unit and we would book it again when in Melbourne next.

  3. All the curtains in the rooms broken, I asked to fix it until the end of our stay they are not fixing it. For almost a week we sleep with curtain off and suns come inside our room. Very not comfortable
  4. The sink in the kitchen broken and I had to fix it myself
  5. The dryer broken , cannot dry all our clothes
  6. All the hand soap & dishwasher soap prepared less than 1/4 of the bottle and we have to buy ourselves
  7. And definitely not a very clean unit
  8. Check out 10 am, even hotel check out at 11 am
