First Impressions
Walking into HarbourView Apartment Hotel (now Arrow on Spencer) on La Trobe Street, you immediately get that “this is actually pretty nice” feeling. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being too sterile — honestly, it feels more like stepping into a well-designed apartment building than a typical hotel. The staff genuinely seem to know what they’re doing, and there’s this sense that you’re in good hands from the moment you arrive.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying right in the heart of Melbourne — you can literally walk everywhere that matters. I mean, you’re on La Trobe Street, which puts you within easy reach of Queen Victoria Market, the theatre district, and all those hidden laneways everyone talks about. What I really appreciated was having parking available on-site, because let’s be honest, finding a decent parking spot in the CBD can be a nightmare. Couples especially seem to love this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to dinner and drinks without worrying about transport.
The Room Experience
The room setup is where this four-star property really shines. You’re getting proper apartment-style accommodations, which means space to actually spread out and relax. The kitchen facilities are surprisingly well-equipped — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but actual cooking capabilities if you want to grab some fresh produce from Queen Vic Market. The beds are comfortable (always a relief), and the bathrooms are modern without being flashy. You know what I really liked? The windows actually open, and you get decent natural light. The restaurant options nearby are excellent for when you prefer dining out.
Practical Perks
What sets this place apart is how it handles the little things that can make or break a stay. The Wi-Fi actually works properly throughout the building, which shouldn’t be remarkable but somehow still is. Having a proper workspace in your room matters if you need to catch up on emails or plan your next day’s adventures. The building feels secure without being overly formal about it — you get key card access and that sense of safety you want when you’re exploring a new city. The attention to detail extends to every corner of the property.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the kind of place that tries to wow you with over-the-top amenities or flashy features. Instead, it delivers on the fundamentals really well — great location, comfortable spaces, and that apartment-style flexibility that lets you settle in properly. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something about the neighborhood’s appeal for exploring Melbourne together. You’re paying for a solid, well-located base that gives you room to breathe and easy access to everything Melbourne has to offer. It’s the kind of property that understands what modern travelers actually need.

What Our Guests Say
Location caroark facilities clean and large apartments
Location good
The apartment was large. Ours overlooked Spencer St with a small balcony. Three bedroom choices and one with ensuite. Main bathroom had a bath. Air con in all rooms. A bit tired looking but Good value for money. We liked our stay here and would stay again.
The location was suburb.
Handy location near Southern Cross Station with tram stop nearby. The room I had was larger than expected for the type that I had booked, and reasonably appointed.
Great location
Cheap room, good location for access to Marvel Stadium.
Close to shops
