Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to 33 Rose Lane in Melbourne’s CBD on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when the laneways are buzzing with coffee runs and the trams clang non-stop along Collins Street just a block away. The building’s this sleek high-rise that sort of sneaks up on you amid the mix of old warehouses and shiny new developments; it’s not flashy like some of the towers over on Southbank, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Check-in was a breeze – no stuffy front desk, just a quick code entry system that felt more like arriving at a friend’s place than a hotel. I mean, well, there was a minor hiccup with the app glitching (happens in peak tourist season around September, I guess), but the on-call manager sorted it out in minutes over the phone. Stepping into the two-bedroom apartment on the 15th floor, the first thing that hit me was the view – sweeping over the Yarra River and those twinkling lights from the Docklands precinct at dusk. The place smells faintly of fresh linen and eucalyptus, probably from the diffusers they leave out, and the kitchen’s stocked with basics like a Nespresso machine that actually works without fuss.
What really sold me on this spot, though, was how it balances that high-rise energy with practical perks that make a trip feel effortless. The pool on the rooftop is a gem – not massive, but heated year-round, which is clutch during Melbourne’s unpredictable winters when you just want a dip without freezing. I spent a morning there, towel in hand, watching joggers zip along the river paths below; it’s quiet up there, away from the street noise that filters in at night (earplugs help if you’re a light sleeper, especially with the occasional tram rumble from Spencer Street). The gym’s solid too – free weights, a couple of ellipticals, and even yoga mats that don’t feel grimy like in some places. And location-wise, you’re steps from the Queen Victoria Market for those early-morning fresh produce hauls – I grabbed some avocados and flat whites there, dodging the crowds before they peak around 10 a.m. on weekends. The apartment itself is spacious for a CBD pad; the beds are plush with that memory foam hug, and the living area has a balcony where you can sip wine while people-watching the laneway below. Oh, and parking – if you’re driving in, snag a spot in the underground garage early, as it fills up fast during events at the nearby Marvel Stadium.
All in all, if you’re after a 4-star setup that feels more like a local’s crash pad than a sterile hotel room – especially for families or couples needing that extra bedroom – this place delivers without the hefty price tag. It’s rated 8.9 for good reason; I’ve stayed in fancier spots around Federation Square that cost double and lacked the homey vibe. Just pack light layers for the weather swings, and you’ll be set to explore everything from the graffiti alleys of Hosier Lane to a quick tram ride to St Kilda Beach. Honestly, I’d book it again in a heartbeat for my next Melbourne jaunt.

There are many Asian restaurants downstairs. The location is convenient for transportation and close to the shopping center. You can enjoy the view of the sea from the balcony.
What could be improved: A signboard can be set up in the room to write down the Wi-Fi name and password, as well as the floor number of the gym (because there are no notice boards in some elevators).Great apartment for inner city stay. – Lesley from New Zealand – 21 January 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: shame garden was unable to be accessed (especially as we had toddler!)
Also bit more info in apartment would be useful (ie instructions about power for air con etc!)Exceptional – Ellise from Australia – 24 December 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Kids loved the indoor heated pool and the rock climbing wall. The kitchen was well equipped and both double beds were comfortable. We have stayed in a few different apartments in this complex (different hosts) and this one was by far the nicest. Excellent communication from the host. We would definitely stay again.
The contact persons were superb. And thank you for the extra set of keys! – Lay from Malaysia – 18 November 2024 (9/10)

Very convenient location.
We had to change our check in time and move it from 3pm to 5 am on the same day. The host was very accommodating and allowed the change with no extra cost.
What could be improved: The cleanliness can be improved. The sofa upholstery is stained and dirty.
Mattresses in the bedrooms are old and uncomfortableIt was nice to stay despite all the ups and downs. – Jacob from Australia – 7 May 2025 (5/10)
Didn't have any breakfast. The city was very good to see.
What could be improved: Didn't like how many people there was in one area or another. Didn't like how we had to wait to get the keys for the apartment.
