Ivanhoe Penthouse – Amazing view Masterpiece with parking
You know, when I first pulled up to the Ivanhoe Penthouse on that quiet stretch off Upper Heidelberg Road – yeah, in Melbourne's leafy northeast suburbs – I was honestly a bit skeptical.
You know, when I first pulled up to the Ivanhoe Penthouse on that quiet stretch off Upper Heidelberg Road – yeah, in Melbourne’s leafy northeast suburbs – I was honestly a bit skeptical. It’s not your flashy CBD high-rise; Ivanhoe’s more of a hidden gem, with those big old trees lining the streets and locals strolling to the shops on Lower Heidelberg for their morning flat whites. But man, as soon as I parked right out front (no hunting for spots like in the city, thank goodness – they include secure parking, which is a lifesaver if you’re driving in from the airport), and stepped into the lobby, it hit me. This place is a total vibe – sort of understated luxury, you know? The check-in was a breeze; the host was this friendly bloke who handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best nearby walking tracks along the Yarra River, which is just a short drive away. I mean, if you’re into that suburban calm, away from the tram rattles of the inner city, this is it.
What really sold me, though – and I say this after spending a couple of nights there last spring – is that penthouse view. It’s billed as an “amazing view masterpiece,” and honestly, it lives up to the hype. From the balcony (which is massive, by the way, with comfy outdoor seating that begs for a sunset wine), you get this sweeping panorama over the treetops toward the Dandenong Ranges on a clear day. I remember waking up to the sound of magpies warbling – not traffic horns – and that fresh, crisp air with a faint eucalyptus tang from the nearby parks. The suite itself is decked out nicely for a 4-star spot: think plush king bed that actually feels like sleeping on clouds, a kitchenette stocked with basics (I whipped up brekkie using stuff from the Ivanhoe IGA down the road), and these huge windows that flood the place with light. It’s not perfect – the bathroom’s a tad compact if you’re sharing with a group, and during peak footy season, you might hear distant cheers from the local oval – but those are minor quibbles. Well, actually, the Wi-Fi was spot-on fast, which mattered when I needed to hop on a quick Zoom call, and the whole setup feels more like a stylish apartment than a sterile hotel room. If you’re road-tripping around Victoria, it’s ideally placed near the Eastern Freeway for zipping into the city (about 20-30 minutes, traffic depending) or out to the wineries in the Yarra Valley.
Look, if you’re the type who wants to escape the hustle but still feel connected – maybe a couple looking for a romantic base or a family needing space without the chaos – this penthouse is a winner. With its solid 9 rating, it’s clear others agree; I left feeling refreshed, like I’d discovered a little slice of Melbourne that tourists often miss. Just pack light layers for those changeable evenings, and you’ll be set.
Apartments in Melbourne suit remote workers with cowork lofts, balcony herb gardens, and fast trams to coworking hubs.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect apartment for relaxing downtime. The spaciousness and comfort.
What could be improved: It wasn’t noted on booking that the keys needed to be collected from a store in Warringal Shopping Plaza. I had to catch an uber from the station to Warringal. Unload, collect keys and then order another uber to the accommodation.
Disappointed there weren’t any coffee pods. Some long life milk would also have been a nice touch.
