Lakeside Five Star Luxury with Uninterrupted Views
I remember pulling up to the Lakeside Five Star Luxury with Uninterrupted Views – yeah, that's the full name, though honestly, it's more of a solid four-star spot, which suits it just fine without all the pretentious fluff – anyway, I got there on a drizzly Melbourne afternoon last spring, right after dodging the usual traffic snarl on St Kilda Road.
I remember pulling up to the Lakeside Five Star Luxury with Uninterrupted Views – yeah, that’s the full name, though honestly, it’s more of a solid four-star spot, which suits it just fine without all the pretentious fluff – anyway, I got there on a drizzly Melbourne afternoon last spring, right after dodging the usual traffic snarl on St Kilda Road. The address is in that 3004 postcode, tucked away near Albert Park Lake, so if you’re coming from the city center, it’s a quick tram ride down Queens Road or a 15-minute drive if you’re braving the parking hunt. I mean, finding a spot isn’t impossible, but it’s one of those areas where you might circle a bit, especially during the Grand Prix season when the whole lake turns into a racetrack circus. Check-in was a breeze, though – the staff were chatty locals who tipped me off about the best nearby coffee (head to the little cafe on Fitzroy Street for a flat white that doesn’t disappoint). My room overlooked the water, and man, those uninterrupted views? They’re no joke. You wake up to the soft shimmer of the lake, maybe a few joggers looping the path, and that fresh, eucalyptus-tinged breeze sneaking in if you crack the window. It’s peaceful, you know, until the occasional tram rumble from afar reminds you you’re still in the thick of it.
What really hooked me was how the place blends that lakeside calm with easy access to Melbourne’s vibe – it’s not some isolated resort; you’re steps from the walking trails around Albert Park, where you can spot black swans gliding by or rent a bike for a spin. The rooms are comfy, with those plush, sink-right-in beds and bathrooms that have rain showers that actually work (no weak dribbles here, thank goodness). I grabbed breakfast in their cafe one morning – think avocado smash on sourdough with a side of lake views – and it was decent, though if you’re a foodie, wander over to Acland Street in St Kilda for proper cakes and pastries; it’s like a five-minute drive or a pleasant stroll if the weather holds. Oh, and speaking of weather, pack layers – Melbourne’s famous for its four-seasons-in-a-day thing, but the hotel’s got these cozy lounges with fireplaces that make rainy evenings sort of magical. Noise-wise, it’s mostly quiet, especially on the upper floors, but you might hear some distant city hum at night; nothing that earplugs can’t fix. I even caught a yoga class by the lake one dawn – free for guests, apparently – and it was this unexpected highlight, stretching out with the mist rising off the water.
Look, if you’re after a spot that’s luxurious without being stuffy, this place nails it. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can lag during peak times, and the name oversells the “five-star” bit a tad – but for an 8.6 rating, it delivers on those views and that laid-back Melbourne charm. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in autumn when the leaves turn and the lake paths are less crowded. If you’re visiting for the arts scene or just to unwind near the water, book a room facing the lake; trust me, it’s worth the slight upgrade. You’ll leave feeling like you’ve actually experienced a slice of local life, not just ticked off a hotel stay.
Melbourne hotels keep food lovers close to Queen Victoria Market, hidden cocktail dens, and rooftop beer gardens.

What Our Guests Say
We were very happy with the property and location. Would definitely recommend and will book again. Liked everything about the property and location.
What could be improved: Key collection was confusing. I left an audio message on number provided advising of arrival time. Message referred to another party without advising them of arrival time. Didn't get messages because I was driving and not familiar with the area. Therefore, waited at the property for about 40 minutes for delivery of keys.
Very good
Exceptional
Need more attention of maintenance Good location , free parking provided , gorgeous view from the flat
What could be improved: I couldn't open the sliding door that connects the middle bedroom and the bathroom because the latch was jammed.
Secondly , we had difficulty opening and closing the balcony sliding door. We discovered that the rail of the sliding door has become deformed.
Additionally, the wooden chairs has loosened screws which were unsafe to use
