The trams run constantly just outside, so getting into the city takes maybe 10 minutes, but you know what? Most evenings I found myself just wandering the local streets instead.

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for — clean lines, comfortable bed, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about how travelers live. The windows are properly sized, so you get decent natural light, and the bathroom setup is practical without being cramped. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with avant-garde design, but after a long day exploring Melbourne, that’s honestly the last thing you want anyway. The furnishings are modern and well-maintained throughout.

While the hotel has its own restaurant, I’d actually recommend stepping out to explore Richmond’s food scene — it’s genuinely one of the best in Melbourne. You’ve got everything from hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese joints to trendy wine bars within a few blocks. The staff at Lanbruk Richmond Hill seem to understand this too; they’re always ready with recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. There’s this little place around the corner that does the best banh mi I’ve had outside of Vietnam, and I never would have found it without their tip.
