First Impressions
Walking into Light, Elevated Living near Queen Victoria Market, you immediately get why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole setup. It’s one of those four-star properties that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies, but instead focuses on getting the fundamentals absolutely right. The name pretty much tells you everything: the spaces feel bright and airy, and you’re literally steps away from one of Melbourne‘s most iconic markets.
The Location Magic
Honestly, the location score of 9.2 isn’t just marketing fluff — this place really is in the sweet spot of Melbourne’s CBD. You can walk to Queen Victoria Market in about two minutes (I timed it), which means fresh coffee, incredible produce, and some of the best food stalls in the city are practically on your doorstep. What I love is that you’re close enough to feel the energy of the market, but the apartment itself sits just high enough to avoid the morning delivery trucks and weekend crowds.
The Space Itself
The room — well, it’s more like a proper studio apartment really — makes excellent use of natural light, which is probably where that “Light” part of the name comes from. Large windows face the right direction to catch morning sun without turning the place into a greenhouse by afternoon. The kitchenette is actually functional (not just decorative like some places), with enough counter space to prep a decent meal if you’ve grabbed ingredients from the market downstairs. You know what impressed me most? The thoughtful little touches, like proper blackout curtains and USB charging points exactly where you’d want them.
Why Couples Love It
I can see why this works so well for romantic getaways. There’s something intimate about having your own little elevated space in the heart of the city — you feel connected to Melbourne’s pulse without being overwhelmed by it. The market below becomes part of your morning routine rather than just a tourist stop. Plus, you’ve got easy access to the laneways, restaurant scene, and cultural spots that make Melbourne special, but you can retreat to your quiet corner when you need a break from all that urban energy.
The Melbourne Experience
What really sets this place apart is how it plugs you into authentic Melbourne life. Saturday mornings at Queen Victoria Market feel like a local ritual when you’re staying here — grabbing coffee from one of the market vendors, picking up fresh bread, maybe some flowers for your temporary home. The trams are right there when you want to explore further, but honestly, so much of what makes Melbourne great is within walking distance. Parking can be tricky in this part of the city, but that’s true anywhere in the CBD, and you really don’t need a car from this location anyway.

What Our Guests Say
Very conveniently located, walking distance to a tram stop within the Free Tram Zone and also to Queen Victoria Market. Loved the view at sunrise/sunset.
Homestay, which I believe is the middleman, is also very responsive to queries. Handy notes were also shared prior to us checking in, which resolved some of our queries. Handing over of keys was also very convenient - in which the housekeeper met us at the lobby for the handover.
