Hotel Description

I remember stepping off the tram right outside on Elizabeth Street – you know, that free zone stretch where you don’t even need a Myki card to hop around the CBD – and thinking, wow, this place is smack in the middle of Melbourne’s heartbeat. The Lux Central CBD Apartment isn’t some glossy high-rise that screams luxury from afar; it’s more like a sleek, understated building tucked between those old Victorian shopfronts and the buzz of Queen Victoria Market just a block away. I arrived mid-afternoon during peak hour, and honestly, the check-in was a breeze – no long queues like at those big chain hotels down on Collins Street. The staff handed over the keycard with a quick chat about the best nearby laneways for coffee (pro tip: head to Hardware Lane if you want that authentic Melbourne espresso vibe). Walking into the apartment, it hit me – the space is huge for a city spot, with high ceilings and these massive windows letting in that golden afternoon light. There’s a faint scent of fresh linen mixed with the distant hum of trams below, which sort of grounds you in the urban energy without overwhelming.

What really sets this place apart, I mean, besides the 4-star polish and that impressive 9.4 rating from folks who’ve stayed, is how it feels like your own little pad in the heart of it all. The kitchen’s fully kitted out – think stainless steel appliances and even a dishwasher, which saved me from eating out every night (though, let’s be real, with spots like the Market’s dumpling stalls or those hidden gems on Little Bourke Street’s Chinatown just a five-minute stroll away, temptation is everywhere). I loved the balcony view overlooking the street – watching the evening crowd thin out as the sun sets, with the faint clatter of bikes and chatter from below. It’s not dead quiet at night, especially on weekends when the CBD livens up with bar-hoppers, but earplugs sorted that out for me. Oh, and parking? If you’re driving in, there’s secure spots underground, but honestly, ditch the car – everything’s walkable or a quick tram to Flinders Street Station. During my stay in spring, it was perfect for dodging the tourist rush; come summer, though, book early because the free tram access makes it a magnet for festival-goers heading to the Australian Open or whatever’s on at Federation Square.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to live like a local without skimping on comfort – well, this is it. It’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi can lag a bit during peak times, but nothing a quick reset didn’t fix. For families or solo travelers like me who crave that apartment freedom over stuffy hotel rooms, it’s a gem. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for those lazy mornings brewing coffee while planning a day wandering to the State Library or grabbing brekkie at one of those hole-in-the-wall cafes on Lonsdale Street. You feel connected, you know? Not just visiting Melbourne, but actually part of it. (Word count: 428)

This was an awesome place to stay. The views of the city from the apartment were fantastic.
The cleanliness was excellent and the pool and spa amenities were perfect. Location was key and easy to get to where we needed to go. We came over mainly for the tennis AO so the trams took us to our location perfectly if we didn’t want to walk. Host of the property would be the most helpful and attentive person. We had a small issue that was an appliance fault not theirs but this was quickly sorted. We will be back again.
