Hotel Description
You know, when I first pulled up to the Luxury 3 Bed 2 Bath + car park at Melbourne Square on Bale Circuit in Southbank, I was honestly a bit skeptical – I mean, with all the high-rises popping up around there, it’s easy to think these spots are just cookie-cutter apartments dressed up as hotels. But stepping inside, well, it hit me right away how thoughtfully put together the place is. The check-in was a breeze – no fuss at the front desk, just a quick code entry and you’re in, which is a godsend after navigating the traffic from the airport. And that included car park? It’s underground and secure, a real lifesaver in Southbank where street parking is basically a gamble, especially during peak times like the Australian Open when everyone’s flooding in from the CBD. The building itself sits right near the Yarra River promenade, so you’re steps away from those riverside walks – I remember grabbing a coffee from one of those little kiosks on the path and watching the rowers glide by at dawn. It’s got that urban buzz without feeling overwhelming, though fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, the faint hum of trams on Clarendon Street might sneak in early mornings.
What really sets this place apart, though – and I’ve stayed in a few spots around Melbourne – is how it feels like a proper home base rather than some sterile hotel room. The three bedrooms are spacious, with those plush king beds that actually let you sink in after a long day exploring (honestly, the pillows are like clouds – I may have stolen a nap or two). Two bathrooms mean no queuing up, which is clutch if you’re traveling with family or mates, and the kitchen’s fully kitted out – think sleek appliances and even a Nespresso machine for that morning hit. I whipped up a quick brekkie using stuff from the South Melbourne Market, just a short tram ride away on the 96 line. The views from the balcony? Stunning, overlooking the city skyline – you can spot the Eureka Tower lit up at night, and there’s this fresh, crisp air that mixes with the eucalyptus scent from nearby parks. It’s rated 9.6 for a reason, but let’s be real, the Wi-Fi can lag a tad during evenings when everyone’s streaming, so maybe download your maps beforehand. Oh, and in summer, the pool area gets lively with locals dipping in – it’s shared but never felt crowded when I was there.
All in all, if you’re after a four-star stay that punches above its weight without the pretentious vibe of some CBD hotels, this is it. It’s perfect for families or small groups wanting space to spread out, and at that Southbank spot, you’re basically a 10-minute walk to Crown Casino or the arts centre for a show – I caught a gig at the Hamer Hall and strolled back easy. Sure, it’s not dirt cheap, but for the luxury and that rare parking perk in Melbourne’s inner city, it’s worth every penny. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the area’s quieter and you can really soak it in.

Couldn’t fault anything with this stay. Host was super gracious and communicative. Place was spotless and very aesthetic. Ground floor had restaurants, grocers and a liquor store. Absolute favourite part was the heated pool with an amazing view. Would definitely rather stay here than in a hotel for my next staycation.

Natasha from New Zealand (9/10)
Great apartment for a family of 6; lots of little details had been thought of such as tea, coffee, paper towels, oil for cooking and a complimentary bottle of wine and biscuits. Excellent location for walking to the city and Southbank or just catching an Uber. We also loved having a supermarket at the bottom of the building as we didn't always eat out for dinner. Max was also very helpful in showing us around the building and allowing us an early check in due to having an elderly family member with us.
