Melbourne CBD Southern Cross Collins St Skyline View Balcony
You know, I stumbled upon the Melbourne CBD Southern Cross Collins St Skyline View Balcony during a quick trip down under last winter – well, their winter, which is basically Melbourne's moody, drizzly season where the wind whips off the Yarra like it's got somewhere to be.
You know, I stumbled upon the Melbourne CBD Southern Cross Collins St Skyline View Balcony during a quick trip down under last winter – well, their winter, which is basically Melbourne’s moody, drizzly season where the wind whips off the Yarra like it’s got somewhere to be. Pulling up to 568 Collins Street, right in the heart of the CBD, I was honestly surprised by how unassuming the entrance felt amidst all the towering glass and steel. It’s tucked in among those heritage buildings that line Collins, you know, the ones with the old-school facades that make you feel like you’re stepping back into gold rush days, but then bam – you’re in a sleek, 4-star spot with a lobby that’s all polished marble and those subtle eucalyptus scents they pump in to remind you you’re in Oz. Check-in was a breeze, even though I rolled in late after a delayed flight from Sydney; the staff were chatty without being over-the-top, sorting my room key in minutes and tossing in a tip about grabbing a flat white from the little laneway cafe just around the corner on Little Collins – seriously, skip the hotel brekkie and hit that spot for some proper Melbourne coffee culture.
What really sold me, though, was the balcony – oh man, that skyline view. My room overlooked the sprawl towards Southern Cross Station, with the lights twinkling like they do on those clear nights when the fog lifts off the river. You’d hear the faint ding of trams rumbling below, especially during rush hour when Collins turns into a bit of a bottleneck with all the suits hustling to meetings, but honestly, it added to the vibe rather than annoying me. The room itself was compact – I mean, CBD real estate is tight, so don’t expect sprawling suites – but it was spotless, with those plush linens that make you sink right in after a day wandering. I appreciated the little touches, like the stocked mini-fridge with local beers (try the Coopers if you’re into that crisp pale ale) and a balcony big enough for two chairs where I nursed a glass of Yarra Valley pinot while watching the sun dip behind the Eureka Tower. Parking’s a hassle here, as it is anywhere in the city center – I ended up using the nearby Wilson lot on Flinders Lane, which isn’t cheap but beats circling for ages. And yeah, there’s some street noise if you’re a light sleeper, especially on weekends when the bars on Spencer Street get rowdy, but the double-glazed windows muffled it pretty well. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during peak evening hours – but for a 9.3 rating, it punches above its weight.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to dive into Melbourne without wasting time on commutes, this place is gold. You’re steps from the free tram zone, so hopping over to Queen Victoria Market for fresh produce or down to Southbank for riverside eats is effortless. I left feeling like I’d nailed the urban escape – sort of recharged by the city’s pulse, you know? Book it for that balcony alone; it’s the kind of spot where you can just sit back and let Melbourne’s skyline work its magic on you.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional
Generally very good. Would stay again with slight changes. Excellent location. Clean and tidy.
What could be improved: Staying for a week…. Needed more towels. No heated towel rail. Occasional difficulty in communicating. Questions not answered…. Seemed like an automated response.
Sofa very uncomfortable.
Excellent service, convenient location and modern apartments with everything you’d need for a week long stay. Easy key pick up from the staff at EzyMart, they were very helpful when asked questions about where to go ect. Absolutely amazing stay within the AirBNB. 62nd floor had amazing views.
Our apartment was beautifully presented and well maintained. Wifi was easy to access and the smart tv kept the children happy being able to watch Netflix ect.
Being able to use the indoor heated pool/spa between 7am - 10pm was so great!
Close to Southern Cross Station and free tram line was super convenient.
Will be back in future.
What could be improved: Pool/Spa/Gym female change rooms was a bit dirty - hair was all over the ground, looked ‘muddy’ from wet feet entering and exiting, and alcohol cans were left on the bench by someone (not at fault by hosts for that one) yet could do with a regular daily clean over I suggest.
Exceptional
Very good What could be improved: There wasn’t a washing machine and one of the doors in the apartment was inaccessible and so was the balcony.
Exceptional Apartment had every by we needed and the host had excellent communication
