Melbourne City Apartments – Teri Overview
I remember pulling up to Melbourne City Apartments – Teri on Market Street in Southbank, right after dodging the usual afternoon traffic snarl around the Yarra River bridges – you know, that spot where everyone’s merging from the West Gate Freeway and it feels like peak hour never ends. It was one of those crisp Melbourne evenings in spring, with the sun dipping low and casting that golden glow over the high-rises. Honestly, the building itself isn’t some flashy landmark – it’s more of a understated mid-rise tucked between the bustling promenade and those trendy cafes on South Wharf – but stepping inside, I felt that immediate sense of “ah, this is going to be a good base.” Check-in was a breeze; the staff were these friendly locals who chatted about the best tram route to the Queen Victoria Market (take the 109, by the way, it stops practically at your doorstep on Clarendon Street). No long waits or stuffy formalities – just handed over the keys with a tip about scoring cheap parking in the nearby Wilson lots if you book ahead, since street spots vanish faster than you can say “flat white.”
What really sold me on the place was how it nailed that apartment-style living without feeling like a sterile hotel room. My unit – a one-bedroom on the higher floors – had these massive windows overlooking the river, and let me tell you, waking up to the hum of ferries chugging along the Yarra while brewing coffee in the full kitchen was pure bliss. The beds were comfy, with that plush linen that doesn’t crinkle annoyingly, and there’s even a washer-dryer combo which saved me after a rainy day trek through the Botanic Gardens (pro tip: avoid weekends if you hate crowds). It’s not perfect, though – the street below can get a bit noisy with the casino crowds spilling out from Crown late at night, especially on Fridays, so earplugs might be your friend if you’re a light sleeper. But honestly, that city buzz is part of the charm; it reminded me why I love Southbank – you’re steps from killer spots like the Polly Woodside ship or those riverside bars where you can grab a craft beer and watch the world go by. And the location? Spot on for exploring – a quick walk across the pedestrian bridge to Flinders Street Station, or hop on a bike share to zip over to the NGV for some art therapy.
All in all, if you’re after a solid 4-star stay that’s more “home away from home” than fancy resort – especially for families or longer trips – this place delivers without the hype. I mean, with an 8.3 rating, it’s clear others feel the same, but what stuck with me was the little things, like the fresh air from the balcony mixing with the faint eucalyptus scent drifting in from nearby parks. Well, maybe skip it if you’re dead set on absolute quiet, but for soaking up Melbourne’s vibe on a budget (rooms start reasonable, even in busy summer), I’d book it again in a heartbeat. Just remember to time your visit for shoulder season if you want fewer tourists clogging the paths.

We enjoyed our stay at the Teri City Apartments as it acted as the perfect base for attending a festival in St Kilda before heading into the city for the evening. Our 2-bedroom apartment was clean and comfortable for one night, and conveniently located across the road from an Aldi and some nice eateries. The gentleman who checked us in was super friendly and very helpful also.

Very well equipped room in a very central location. Great kitchen and toilet, complete with washer, dryer, and large balcony.
Hot water was spotty, and a leaky kitchen tap was never addressed despite two requests. Cleaning service, although advertised for my 8-day stay, never materialised.Trevor from Australia (8/10)
The team at Melbourne City Apartments were amazing. My flight was cancelled and I had to fly out the next day a little upset with the treatment from the airlines. But Teri Team accommodated the change in dates without a fuss, met me with empathy and made me feel welcomed after a hard couple of days. They were wonderful.

Great location. South Melbourne market is only 2 mins away so handy.
Love the gated/secure private car park under the apt. remember you have to pay for it but it's worthy if you are bringing a vehicle.
very spacious compared to other APTs in the central area.Liane from New Zealand (8/10)
