Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Meriton Suites on King Street – you know, that bustling stretch right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, just a stone’s throw from Flagstaff Gardens where locals jog in the mornings. I was coming off a tram from Southern Cross Station, dodging the usual swarm of office workers and coffee carts, and honestly, the place looked sleek from the outside, all glass and modern lines that fit right in with the city’s vibe. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were friendly without being over-the-top – this one guy even chatted about the best nearby pho spot on Little Bourke Street, which I tried later and, yeah, it was spot on. No long waits or fuss, even though I arrived during that post-lunch rush when everyone’s scrambling back to work. The lobby has this clean, airy feel with comfy seating areas and a faint scent of fresh linen – not overpowering, just welcoming after a long flight.
What really sold me on Meriton Suites, though, was the room – I mean, these aren’t your standard hotel boxes; they’re proper apartments with full kitchens, which came in handy for whipping up a quick brekkie from the Queen Victoria Market just a 10-minute walk away. My suite on a higher floor overlooked the city skyline, and at dusk, you’d catch the lights flickering on from the Docklands side – sort of magical, especially with a glass of local Yarra Valley wine in hand. The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud, and the bathroom had those rain showers that make you linger a bit too long. There’s an indoor pool and gym downstairs, which I hit up early one morning; it’s heated just right, and quiet before 8 am, though it gets busier with business types during conference season in spring. Parking’s available in the basement, but fair warning, it’s a bit tight maneuvering in there if you’ve got a bigger car – I saw a few folks grumbling about that. Noise-wise, King Street can be lively with trams rumbling by, but the soundproofing is solid; I barely heard a thing at night, except maybe the occasional siren from the legal district nearby. Oh, and the Wi-Fi is lightning-fast – crucial for remote work, which I ended up doing from the balcony.
All in all, if you’re after a 5-star stay that feels more like a home base than a sterile hotel, Meriton Suites is a gem, especially with that 9.1 rating that’s well-earned. It’s perfect for exploring Melbourne on foot – think easy access to the free tram zone or wandering over to the State Library for some culture. Sure, prices spike during events like the Grand Prix in March, but you get serious value: spacious digs, top-notch service, and that insider feel of being smack in the action without the chaos overwhelming you. I’d go back in a heartbeat – well, maybe book a corner suite next time for even better views. If Melbourne’s on your list, this place makes the trip that much smoother.

We always stay at the Meriton Suites when we travel.
The suite as usual was spacious, clean with great facilities of home.
The location in King Street was good as it was not actually right in the city
but a short walk into Bourke Street and you can catch a Tram into the shopping precinct or out to St Kilda Beach.
There is a Woolworths, 7 Eleven, Chemist Warehouse, ANZ Bank and Cafes close by.
The Staff are very friendly and helpful.Small from United States (10/10)
Great location not too far from Queen Victoria Market, the Southern Cross station and many restaurants. Loved the kitchen and laundry facilities en-suite. Super friendly staff. Nice to have a pool, jacuzzi and sauna.
