Novotel Melbourne On Collins Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Novotel Melbourne On Collins, you immediately get that “this is why I came to Melbourne” feeling. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe that somehow doesn’t feel cold — there’s something about the way natural light floods through the floor-to-ceiling windows that makes the whole space feel alive. You know what really struck me? The staff actually seemed genuinely happy to be there, which honestly isn’t something you see everywhere in five-star hotels these days.
Prime Collins Street Location
Here’s the thing about being right on Collins Street — you’re literally in the middle of everything that matters. I mean, you can walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens in about ten minutes, and Federation Square is practically next door. What I really appreciated was how easy it made getting around — the trams run constantly right outside, and if you’re into shopping (or just people-watching), the Bourke Street Mall is a quick stroll away. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having the whole city at your doorstep.
The Room Experience
My room was on the 15th floor, and honestly, the view over the city was pretty spectacular. The space itself felt thoughtfully designed — not just thrown together like some chain hotels. The bed was one of those cloud-like situations where you sink in just enough, and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually delivered on the promise. What surprised me was the attention to small details, like having proper blackout curtains (trust me, this matters when you’re dealing with jet lag) and enough power outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the bedside lamp.
Dining and Amenities
The breakfast buffet is where this place really shows off — it’s this sprawling continental spread that goes way beyond the usual hotel fare. I’m talking fresh pastries, local Australian specialties, and a coffee station that would make any Melbourne café proud. The restaurant downstairs serves solid modern Australian cuisine, though honestly, with so many incredible dining options within walking distance, I found myself exploring the neighborhood more often than not. Having parking available is actually a big deal in this part of the city — most places either don’t have it or charge a fortune for it.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this hotel work is how it balances luxury with practicality. You get all the five-star touches — the attentive service, the quality linens, the well-appointed spaces — but it doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious. The location score of 9.3 isn’t just a number; it reflects how this place puts you right in the heart of Melbourne’s cultural and business district without the chaos. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, you’ll find yourself using the hotel as a perfect home base rather than just a place to sleep.
To book hotel in Melbourne for laneway art tours, travelers grab rooms early to pair coffee crawls with gallery nights in Fitzroy.

Brilliant location. Fantastic shower with no door to get in the way. Good pressure and temperature too! Timely room service and delicious pumpkin soup. Yum! Lovely woman at reception on Tuesday, 11/3/25 who stored my bags. VERY quick check in and check out. A recent stay at The Asian inspired Dorset took 20 minutes to check out and cost MUCH more. Your hotel was a bargain.
