I mean, Chapel’s buzzing with those quirky boutiques and cafes – think grabbing a flat white at one of those hole-in-the-wall spots like Monarch Cakes, or wandering down to the Prahran Market for fresh produce on a Saturday morning. The hotel’s address puts you a quick stroll from Toorak Road too, so if you’re into high-end shopping or just people-watching, it’s spot on. Driving in from the city, I remember navigating those narrow side streets – parking’s a bit of a hassle if you don’t snag one of the limited spots in their underground garage (honestly, book it ahead or you’ll end up circling like I did), but once you’re in, the lobby hits you with this sleek, modern feel. Marble floors that echo a little when you wheel in your suitcase, and a faint scent of eucalyptus from their diffusers – it’s like they’ve bottled that Aussie freshness.

What really sold me, though, was the pool area – it’s not some massive resort thing, but perched up on the rooftop with these killer views over the South Yarra rooftops, stretching out toward the Yarra River on a clear day. I spent an afternoon there lounging on those cushy daybeds, the water cool and inviting even in the sticky summer heat (mind you, it gets crowded around 4pm when everyone checks out the skyline at sunset). The rooms are stylish, no doubt – mine had these floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light, and the bed was plush enough to sink into after a day exploring. But, sort of a nitpick, the air con hummed a tad loudly at night, and if your room faces the street side, you might catch some early morning traffic noise from Chapel filtering up – nothing earplugs couldn’t fix, but worth noting if you’re a light sleeper. Breakfast in the on-site cafe was solid too; their avo toast with poached eggs had that fresh, zingy twist from local herbs, though service could be hit-or-miss during peak hours, like when a tour group rolls in.

All in all, if you’re hitting Melbourne for a mix of culture and chill – maybe catching a show at the nearby Como Centre or just vibing in the Botanic Gardens a short tram ride away – Panoramic Elegance is a smart pick. It’s not flawless (that 4-star rating feels about right with the 7/10 vibe; it’s elegant but not over-the-top luxurious), but for the price and location, it left me with good memories. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the jacarandas are blooming and the whole area feels alive – just pack light and embrace the urban hum.

  GREAT location near shops and very close to a great supermarket and fabulous fruit and Veg shop.Willem the host was VERY helpful and responsive.The apartment was light and clean
