Peaceful 2BR apt on St Kilda Rd w Free Parking#OP08
I remember pulling up to the Peaceful 2BR apt on St Kilda Road after a long drive from the airport – honestly, finding free parking right there felt like winning the lottery in Melbourne, where spots can be a nightmare, especially around the CBD fringes.
I remember pulling up to the Peaceful 2BR apt on St Kilda Road after a long drive from the airport – honestly, finding free parking right there felt like winning the lottery in Melbourne, where spots can be a nightmare, especially around the CBD fringes. The building’s at 450 St Kilda Road, sort of tucked between those grand old trees lining the boulevard and the hum of trams rattling by every few minutes. It’s not flashy from the outside – just a modern-ish block that blends in with the mix of apartments and offices – but stepping inside, you get this immediate sense of calm, like the city’s buzz (think distant car horns and the occasional jogger puffing past) fades away. Check-in was a breeze; it’s one of those self-service deals with a code, which worked fine even though I arrived a bit late after getting lost near Albert Park. The place smells faintly of fresh linen and whatever cleaning spray they use – nothing overpowering, just clean and welcoming. Oh, and the elevator’s quick, no waiting around like in some older spots downtown.
What really sold me on this apartment – I mean, it’s billed as a 4-star setup with a 7.5 rating, which feels about right – is how it lives up to that “peaceful” name without skimping on space. You’ve got two bedrooms with comfy queen beds (the mattresses are firm but not rock-hard, perfect after a day exploring), a full kitchen where I whipped up brekkie using stuff from the nearby Queen Victoria Market – pro tip, hop on the 58 tram right outside and you’re there in 10 minutes. The living area’s got these big windows overlooking the road, but double glazing keeps the noise down, especially in the evenings when things quieten after rush hour. It’s great for families or mates traveling together; we spread out, watched some footy on the flat-screen, and didn’t feel crammed. Location-wise, you’re steps from Fawkner Park for a morning walk – those eucalyptus scents in the air are pure Melbourne magic – and a short stroll to the Shrine of Remembrance if you’re into history. Well, actually, it’s not dead central, so if you’re all about non-stop nightlife, you might hop a tram to St Kilda Beach (about 15 minutes) for bars and that iconic pier vibe. One minor gripe: the bathroom’s functional but could use a refresh – tiles are a tad dated, and the shower pressure varies, you know, like in many Aussie rentals. Still, free Wi-Fi was solid, and having a washer-dryer meant no laundromat runs mid-trip.
Look, if you’re visiting Melbourne during peak season like summer or the Grand Prix (hello, Albert Park chaos), this spot’s a smart pick for avoiding hotel crowds while staying connected. It’s not luxury-overload, but for the price, you get that homey feel with practical perks – free parking alone saves you heaps compared to city garages. I’d go back in a heartbeat for a relaxed base to hit the Botanic Gardens or even day-trip to the Yarra Valley. Just pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper during weekday mornings; the road picks up early. Overall, it’s the kind of place that makes you appreciate the little things, like brewing your own coffee and watching the world go by from a quiet balcony.
Melbourne’s apartments welcome families with spacious lounges, playground courtyards, and quick rides to beachside St Kilda.

What Our Guests Say
Very good
Good The apartment location and facilities are great.
What could be improved: The building design means the lighting in the hall way is very dim and since the door is black is was a pain trying to get the key in the door lock. We had to keep using the light on our iphone to see it. Also the bed in the non ensuite room was extremely hard (rock hard) and not very comfortable. I would strongly recommend a different mattress like the one in the ensuite.
