Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to the Perfect Location Cozy Townhouse McKinnon Station after a long drive from the airport – honestly, if you’re coming from Tullamarine, just hop on the train to McKinnon and it’s a quick walk from the platform on McKinnon Road. The place is tucked away in that quiet pocket of southeast Melbourne, you know, right where the suburbs start feeling a bit more laid-back than the CBD hustle. It’s not some flashy high-rise; it’s this charming two-story townhouse that looks like it belongs to a local family who’s decided to share it with travelers. I arrived around dusk in autumn – that time when the eucalyptus trees along the street start giving off that fresh, earthy scent after a light rain – and the host was waiting with keys in hand, no fuss, just a quick chat about the neighborhood spots. Parking was a breeze out front, which is a godsend in these parts where street spots can vanish during school pick-up hours on Centre Road nearby.
Stepping inside, it felt like walking into a friend’s well-loved home – cozy, yeah, but with that four-star polish that makes you forget you’re not actually a local. The living room has these plush velvet couches that sink just right after a day exploring, and the kitchen’s stocked with basics like fresh coffee pods and even some Vegemite for that authentic Aussie breakfast vibe. I mean, it’s not huge, but the layout flows nicely – upstairs bedrooms with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender from the laundry, and a little balcony overlooking the back garden where you can hear the distant rumble of trains from McKinnon Station without it being intrusive. Well, sort of – if you’re a light sleeper, the early morning Frankston line might nudge you awake around 6am, but honestly, it’s white noise after a day or two. We cooked up a storm one night using herbs from the tiny herb patch out back (pro tip: snag some fresh produce from the Bentleigh Market just a 10-minute stroll away), and the Wi-Fi held up strong for streaming footy games. It’s got that townhouse intimacy – no echoing hotel corridors, just creaky wooden floors that add character – though I wish the bathroom had a bit more counter space for all my toiletries.
You know what, if you’re after a spot that feels like a real slice of Melbourne life without skimping on comfort, this is it. It’s perfect for families or couples who want to base themselves near the beach – Brighton Beach is only a 15-minute drive, and you’re on the train line straight to the city or down to Frankston for those coastal day trips. We stayed during the quieter shoulder season in May, when the area’s not swamped with tourists, and it was blissfully peaceful. Sure, it’s not ultra-luxury – no spa or room service – but at a solid 9 rating, it delivers that warm, unpretentious stay that makes you want to extend your trip. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for the way it lets you dip into local life, like grabbing a flat white at the cafe on the corner of Jasper Road. If Melbourne’s on your list, skip the generic chains and cozy up here – you won’t regret it.

Beautiful, convenient, accessible, close to everything. Nothing more short stay accommodation could want – Tania from Australia – 19 May 2025 (10/10)
Convenience to everything we needed and wanted
What could be improved: Lots of stairs, but it is what it isCozy and convenient – Wendi from United States – 14 July 2025 (9/10)
Great location with short walks to fantastic coffee shops, grocery store and the train station. Wonderful windows and balcony. Shower pressure and water temp were wonderful. Lots of lamps for softer lighting. Many skylights which offered natural light. Felt like home. Felt safe in the property too. Host was responsive and kind to all of my questions.
What could be improved: Only suggestion would be more seating in living area. Four people would be tight in current arrangement. For me it was great as a solo travelerOver all a great location, well lit town house. – Sally from Australia – 24 March 2025 (8/10)
The location was great, the property was large enough for what we needed.
What could be improved: The property had a stale smell on arrival, it could have been cleaner and perhaps a brush and shovel so you can sweep the floors if needed.
The bed needed a more comfortable underlay.
In the description it needs to be clearer that is over two levels and many stairs!!
