Prestigious 1B apt w stunning harbour view#WSP37A
I remember pulling into Southern Cross Station on the SkyBus from the airport – you know, that handy shuttle that saves you a fortune compared to a cab – and it was just a quick five-minute stroll down Spencer Street to this place, the Prestigious 1B apt with that stunning harbour view (it's unit #WSP37A, in case you're searching).
I remember pulling into Southern Cross Station on the SkyBus from the airport – you know, that handy shuttle that saves you a fortune compared to a cab – and it was just a quick five-minute stroll down Spencer Street to this place, the Prestigious 1B apt with that stunning harbour view (it’s unit #WSP37A, in case you’re searching). Honestly, after a long flight, I was beat, but stepping into the lobby felt like a relief; it’s one of those modern high-rises where the check-in is self-service with a code they email you ahead – no fuss, no waiting in line like at some of the bigger hotels nearby. Well, sort of self-service; there’s a concierge desk if you need it, but I breezed right up to the 37th floor (I think? The views sure made it feel high up). The apartment itself is this sleek one-bedroom setup, all open-plan with a kitchen that’s actually stocked – pots, pans, even a Nespresso machine for that morning caffeine hit. But the real kicker? That balcony overlooking Victoria Harbour. I mean, you open the sliding doors, and bam, there’s the water sparkling under the Melbourne sun, with the Bolte Bridge arching in the distance and those container ships gliding by like they’re in slow motion. It’s got this fresh, salty breeze that cuts through the city humidity, especially in summer when the CBD can feel a bit sticky.
What really sold me on staying here – and I’ve crashed in a few spots around Docklands before – is how it feels like a proper home base without the sterile hotel vibe. The bedroom’s comfy, with blackout curtains that actually work (a godsend if you’re jet-lagged and the sun rises at like 5 a.m. in December), and there’s a washer-dryer combo that saved me from overpacking. Parking’s a bit of a squeeze if you’ve got a car – Spencer Street’s always buzzing with trams dinging and taxis honking, so I’d recommend the secure underground spot they offer for an extra fee, or just ditch the wheels and hop on the free City Circle tram that loops right past. Noise-wise, it’s not too bad for a central spot; you hear the faint hum of the city at night, but nothing that kept me up – unlike some places closer to Flinders Street where the bars spill out till dawn. I wandered out for brekkie one morning to that little cafe on Collins Street, just a block over, grabbing a flat white and avo toast amid the office crowd – feels authentically Melburnian, you know? And in the evenings, it’s a short walk to the harbourfront for sunset drinks at one of those pop-up bars in Docklands, or even catching a game at Marvel Stadium if you’re into that. Oh, and pro tip: avoid peak hour if you’re sensitive to crowds; around 8 a.m., Spencer gets packed with commuters.
All in all, if you’re after a 4-star stay that’s more apartment than hotel – with an 8.7 rating that honestly feels spot-on – this one’s a winner for solo travelers or couples who want space to spread out. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can lag a tad during busy times (like evenings when everyone’s streaming), and the building’s shared gym is basic, nothing fancy. But that view? It makes up for it, turning a simple Melbourne trip into something memorable. I’d book it again in a heartbeat, especially off-season in winter when the harbour fog rolls in all moody and atmospheric – just pack layers for those chilly balcony sessions.
Hotel in Melbourne bookings surge before Australian Open matches, so fans secure courtside stays months in advance.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Comfortable apartment in excellent location. Easy to get around the CBD. Supermarket and shops just across the road was a bonus. Needs a few more dishes, glasses (champagne) a cutting board and cutlery items so you don't have to put on the dishwasher for just a few things.
Very good The views and location were absolutely amazing
What could be improved: This is the tricky part as I don't want to offend and would definitely stay there again. This is totally up to the owners to take on board or not. It definitely needs a microwave, some forks as there were none and the two chairs out on the balcony need to be replaced they are so uncomfortable and you can't sit up in them to enjoy your coffee or wine and enjoy the great views that are there to admire.
