Quest Bundoora
You know, when I first pulled up to Quest Bundoora on Janefield Drive, I was honestly surprised by how tucked away it felt – like, you're in the heart of Melbourne's northern suburbs, but it's not right on the chaotic Plenty Road strip where traffic piles up during rush hour.
You know, when I first pulled up to Quest Bundoora on Janefield Drive, I was honestly surprised by how tucked away it felt – like, you’re in the heart of Melbourne’s northern suburbs, but it’s not right on the chaotic Plenty Road strip where traffic piles up during rush hour. I mean, Bundoora’s got that mix of leafy residential vibes and uni energy from La Trobe just down the road, so if you’re visiting for a conference or dropping off a kid at campus, this spot’s a godsend. I arrived mid-afternoon after dodging the tram tracks on Plenty, and check-in was a breeze – the staff were chatty locals who tipped me off about the best coffee at the little cafe in the nearby Polaris shopping centre (pro tip: their flat whites are killer, and it’s only a five-minute walk). The building itself has this modern, apartment-style setup, not your typical sterile hotel tower; my room was more like a mini flat with a full kitchenette – stainless steel appliances, even a dishwasher, which saved me from eating out every night. And the bed? Plush, with those crisp white sheets that smell faintly of fresh laundry, though I will say the pillows were a tad too firm for my liking, but hey, that’s what extra blankets are for.
What really sets this place apart, though – and I say this as someone who’s bounced around Melbourne’s burbs a fair bit – is how it balances convenience with that elusive suburban quiet. You’re about 20 minutes from the CBD if you hop on the 86 tram from the stop on Janefield (it runs pretty reliably, even on weekends), but at night, it’s dead silent except for the occasional rustle of gum trees in the breeze. I loved the outdoor pool area; it’s heated, which is clutch in Melbourne’s fickle weather – I took a dip one crisp morning, and the water had this steamy warmth that cut through the chill. Gym’s solid too, with free weights and ellipticals that actually work, not the dusty relics you find in some spots. Parking was a non-issue – secure underground spots, no hunting for street parking like you’d have to in Fitzroy or something. Oh, and if you’re into nature, Bundoora Park is literally a stone’s throw away; I wandered over one evening and caught the kangaroos grazing at dusk – surreal for a city escape. That said, it’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi dipped a bit during peak hours (blame the uni crowd streaming lectures, I guess), and breakfast options in the on-site cafe are basic – think continental spreads, nothing fancy like smashed avo on every corner in the inner north.
All in all, if you’re looking for a home base that’s not smack in the tourist frenzy but still lets you dip into Melbourne’s scene – say, for a week-long stay exploring the Yarra Valley wineries or just chilling in the burbs – Quest Bundoora nails it. It’s got that 4.5-star polish without feeling pretentious, and at a 9 rating, it’s earned its stripes from folks like me who appreciate the little things. Honestly, I’d book it again in a heartbeat, especially off-peak when the rates drop and the place feels even more like your own private pad.
Apartments in Melbourne suit remote workers with cowork lofts, balcony herb gardens, and fast trams to coworking hubs.

Amazing wish we never had to leave. Could not fault the customer service we received. We had a plumbing issue and the staff response was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help us out cannot fault the staff and facilities at all. Would definitely stay there again. Best customer service we have had for a very long time. Thank you.

A Greta place and location Super clean and convenient
Great place to stay Loved how close it was to Uni Hill. For shopping and for food.
clean, comfortable, relaxed, easy to get in and out, friendly staff and good value for money at a significantly lower cost than 4* hotels i’ve stayed at, the studio apartment i stayed in had the same amenities plus a mini wall kitchen, and all clean/well maintained.
staff were all friendly and very helpful.
i’ll definitely be looking to stay here again when needed.
thanks quest.
