Quest Southbank Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Quest Southbank, you immediately get that feeling of understated elegance that only a proper five-star property can deliver. The lobby has this modern Australian sophistication — clean lines, warm timber accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light. It’s not trying too hard to impress, which honestly makes it even more impressive. You know what I mean? Sometimes the best luxury is when it doesn’t feel like it’s shouting about being luxurious.
Location & Neighborhood
The location on Kavanagh Street is absolutely brilliant — I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Melbourne‘s cultural precinct. The Yarra River is right there, and you can walk to Federation Square, the Royal Botanic Gardens, or catch a show at the Arts Centre without breaking a sweat. What I love about Southbank is how it manages to feel both cosmopolitan and relaxed at the same time. During the day, you’ve got business people rushing about, but come evening, it transforms into this lovely riverside promenade where couples stroll (no wonder they rate the location so highly for romantic getaways).
The Accommodation Experience
The apartment-style accommodations here are what really set Quest apart from your typical hotel experience. Each unit comes with a proper kitchen, which is fantastic if you want to grab some fresh produce from Queen Victoria Market and cook something up. The room layouts are thoughtfully designed — you actually have space to spread out and live a bit, rather than just sleep. The bathrooms are particularly well-appointed, with rainfall showers that make you want to linger a bit longer than necessary.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast here is something else entirely — they’ve got everything from continental and Italian options to full English, plus all the dietary requirements covered (vegan, gluten-free, kosher, you name it). The restaurant area has this lovely view over the Southbank promenade, and honestly, starting your day watching Melbourne wake up while sipping proper coffee is pretty special. There’s also a spa on-site that’s perfect for unwinding after exploring the city, and the parking situation is sorted — which, if you know Melbourne, is no small thing.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Quest Southbank is how it strikes that perfect balance between luxury and livability. You get all the five-star touches — impeccable service, premium finishes, attention to detail — but it never feels stuffy or pretentious. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay memorable, and the location means you can experience the best of Melbourne without feeling like you’re constantly commuting. Whether you’re here for business, romance, or just exploring this incredible city, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like a sophisticated local rather than just another tourist.

Reviews of Quest Southbank
Sharon from United States (9/10)
The location. We came to Melbourne for the Australian Open. Quest Southbank was ideally located just a short 20 minute walk from the venue. Quest Southbank is also ideally located to walk to the shops and dining along the Yarra river. We took an Uber was to get to Queen Victoria Market but then we explored the CBD and walked back. Also took an Uber to/from the Zoo.

Everything. Some reviews made me doubt Quest but as I've stayed in different ones all over Australia, thought I'd go with my gut. So glad I did!

Beds very comfortable, spacious main bedroom however twin room was a little tight to get full access to wardrobes with bed being too close to it. Accommodation exactly.was we required. Staff cleaned & made beds every day (except Sunday). Would stay there again 100%
