First Impressions
Walking into Quest St Kilda Road, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those four-star places that doesn’t try too hard — clean lines, modern finishes, and staff who actually seem happy to see you. The lobby has this understated elegance that whispers quality without shouting about it, which honestly sets the tone perfectly for what turns out to be a really solid stay.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about St Kilda Road — it’s Melbourne’s best-kept secret for accommodation. You’re literally on one of the city’s main arteries, which means getting anywhere is ridiculously easy, but you’re not stuck in the tourist chaos of the CBD. The Royal Botanic Gardens are right there (I mean, you can see them from some rooms), and honestly, having that green space so close makes the whole experience feel more relaxed. Couples absolutely love this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being able to walk to the gardens for sunset, then head into the city for dinner.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” — everything you need without unnecessary clutter. The kitchenette is actually functional, not just for show, which is rare in hotels these days. You know what impressed me most? The blackout curtains actually work, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train. These might seem like small things, but when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag or just want to relax after walking around Melbourne all day, they matter enormously.
Practical Perks
Let’s talk about parking — because if you’ve ever tried to park in Melbourne, you’ll appreciate that Quest has private parking on-site. It’s not cheap, but it’s there, and sometimes that peace of mind is worth every dollar. The building itself feels secure without being fortress-like, and the elevators are quick (trust me, when you’re on the 15th floor with shopping bags, this matters). The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work — I’ve stayed here twice now, and both times everything was spotless.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being professional with being genuinely welcoming. The location gets rave reviews for good reason — you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the noise to actually get some rest. I’ve recommended it to friends visiting Melbourne, and they always come back with the same feedback: it just works. No drama, no disappointments, just a solid base for exploring one of Australia’s best cities. For the price point and what you get, it’s honestly hard to find better value in this part of town.
Melbourne’s hotels wrap guests in laneway graffiti views, botanical garden strolls, and late-night jazz lounges.

What Our Guests Say
Before our second night, we noticed that we were to have noisy neighbours either side that evening (we were placed in between). Rather than asking them to be quiet (it was not offensive, they were just having fun) I asked if we could change rooms. Reception staff were friendly and respectful and the room change was seamless.
Comfort of accessible room
Not great location, construction nearby
Staff were incredibly friendly and organised for air con to be switched on before my arrival so room was lovely and cool. The fridge was also already cool which was great as I had some food items and drinks with me. Really liked that the room was stocked with plates, bowls etc.
Loved the room, it had great facilities and the staff were very helpful.
