First Impressions
Walking up to Rooftop infinity pool – St Kilda luxury on Fitzroy Street, you’d honestly never guess what’s waiting for you upstairs. The building itself looks pretty standard from street level — it’s one of those converted apartment blocks that Melbourne does so well. But once you get inside this four-star property, everything changes. The lobby has this clean, modern feel that immediately tells you someone put real thought into the design, and you can already sense there’s something special about this place.
Location & Neighborhood
St Kilda is one of those Melbourne neighborhoods that just works, you know? You’re literally a two-minute walk from the beach, which is pretty incredible when you think about it — how many cities let you wake up near the water like this? Fitzroy Street itself has this great energy with cafes, bars, and restaurants scattered along it, but it’s not overwhelming. I mean, you can easily walk to Luna Park if you’re feeling nostalgic, or just stroll down to the pier for sunset. The tram connections are actually really good too, so getting into the CBD takes maybe 15 minutes.
The Room Experience
The rooms here feel more like a well-designed apartment than a typical hotel room. There’s proper space to spread out, and the kitchen setup is genuinely useful — not just one of those token mini-fridges. The balconies in most rooms give you either city glimpses or, if you’re lucky, some water views. But honestly, you’ll probably spend most of your time thinking about that rooftop pool anyway. The beds are comfortable (I’m pretty picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have good water pressure, which matters more than people admit.
That Rooftop Pool
Okay, so the infinity pool is obviously the star here — it’s literally in the name. Getting up there for the first time is sort of a revelation because suddenly you’re floating above St Kilda with this panoramic view stretching out toward the bay. The pool itself isn’t huge, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s more about the experience than doing laps. Early morning swims are particularly nice when the city’s just waking up, and evening sessions during sunset are pretty magical. There are decent lounging areas up there too, so you can easily spend a few hours just relaxing.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is how it balances that special-occasion feeling with genuine comfort. Couples seem to particularly love it here — and I can see why, given that rooftop setting and the whole St Kilda vibe. You get that sense of being somewhere unique without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with trying too hard. The staff actually know the neighborhood well and can point you toward the good coffee spots (there are several excellent ones within walking distance). It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Melbourne properly, not just staying somewhere generic that could be anywhere.
