Scenic Penthouse Living in the Heart of Melbourne
I remember pulling up to the Scenic Penthouse Living in Southbank – you know, right off Queens Bridge Street, where the Yarra River bends and the city skyline just pops – and thinking, wow, this place nails that urban escape vibe without feeling too flashy.
I remember pulling up to the Scenic Penthouse Living in Southbank – you know, right off Queens Bridge Street, where the Yarra River bends and the city skyline just pops – and thinking, wow, this place nails that urban escape vibe without feeling too flashy. It’s tucked into one of those modern high-rises that blend right into the promenade scene, and honestly, finding parking wasn’t the nightmare I expected; there’s a secure underground spot (though it costs a bit extra, like $30 a day, so factor that in if you’re driving from the airport). Check-in was a breeze – the staff were these laid-back Aussies who chatted about the best coffee spots nearby, like that little joint on Southbank Boulevard with the killer flat whites. I mean, it’s not some grand lobby with chandeliers, but more of a sleek reception area that smells faintly of fresh linen and eucalyptus, which sort of sets a calming tone after dodging the tram crowds on Flinders Street.
What really sold me on this 4-star gem – and yeah, that 8.4 rating feels spot-on – was the penthouse-style rooms. Mine had these floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and the twinkling lights of the Crown Casino complex (pro tip: book a high floor if you can, to avoid any street noise from the weekend revellers down below). The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud after a day wandering Federation Square or hitting up the NGV – you know, the National Gallery of Victoria, just a quick 10-minute stroll across the bridge. There’s a full kitchenette too, which came in handy for whipping up brekkie with goodies from the South Melbourne Market (open weekends, and trust me, grab some fresh oysters if you’re there in summer). It’s not perfect, though – the Wi-Fi can get a tad spotty during peak hours, especially if everyone’s streaming the footy, and the air-con hums a bit loudly at night, but nothing that ruined the stay. Oh, and the balcony – man, sipping a cold one out there as the sun sets over the city, with that faint salty breeze off the river mixing with distant tram bells, it’s pure Melbourne magic. We visited in spring, when the area’s buzzing but not overwhelmingly touristy, and it was ideal; summers can get humid, so maybe aim for shoulder seasons.
All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels like your own slice of Melbourne without the hotel chain sterility, this place delivers. It’s close enough to hop on a tram to the laneways for street art or duck into Eureka Skydeck for those insane views – seriously, it’s like living in the heart of it all, but with room to breathe. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for a longer stay; just pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Worth every penny for that authentic city immersion.
Melbourne’s apartments welcome families with spacious lounges, playground courtyards, and quick rides to beachside St Kilda.

What Our Guests Say
The apartment was a good size with good beds, bathrooms, a kitchen, and laundry. The apartment was secure and the parking on the fist floor was very handy. My family enjoyed the stay. Given it was winter, the apartment was warm.
Location was good.
Good location. Comfy beds
Location is great - we stayed for a trade exhibition at MCEC and it was an easy walk. Its also close to a range of restaurants, eateries and a few small supermarkets and bottle shops. The penthouse is well stocked with pretty much anything you need for a short term stay, including a well stocked kitchen - there was even some basic pantry items like salt, pepper and sugar, tea and coffee provided. The car parking spot is easy to access and a great inclusion in the price. Great views from the apartment. Beds were comfy. The washer/dryer was really handy and worked well - with washing powder provided.
Location was fantastic, we could walk anywhere or jump on a tram. Plenty of restaurants 15mins away. The scenery from the apartment was amazing.
