Hotel Description

You know, when I first rolled up to Serenity Stayz on Little Lonsdale Street – that’s 633, right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD – I was honestly surprised by how tucked away it felt, even though you’re smack in the middle of everything. I mean, Little Lonsdale isn’t one of those chaotic main arteries like Bourke or Collins; it’s got this quieter vibe, with the occasional tram rumbling by and folks spilling out from nearby offices during lunch hour. I checked in around midday – super straightforward, actually, with a key code system that meant no waiting around for staff, which is a godsend if you’ve just come off a long flight from Sydney or wherever. The three-bedroom apartment itself? Spacious and modern, with that fresh linen scent hitting you as soon as you walk in, like someone’s just aired it out. The living area opens up nicely – big windows letting in that crisp Melbourne light, and honestly, the kitchen was a highlight for me; fully stocked with decent appliances, so I whipped up a quick brekkie using stuff from the Queen Victoria Market, which is literally a 10-minute stroll north on Elizabeth Street. Oh, and parking – well, it’s the CBD, so it’s a bit of a lottery, but there’s a multi-story car park just around the corner on A’Beckett if you need it, though I ditched the car and used the free tram zone instead.

What really made this place stand out, though, was how it felt like a proper home base amid the city’s buzz – not some sterile hotel room, you know? The bedrooms are comfy, with plush bedding that actually lets you sleep through the night, despite the faint hum of traffic below (earplugs helped on busier evenings, like during the Aussie Open season when the streets get packed). I spent a few days there last spring, and it was perfect for wandering out to Flagstaff Gardens for a morning jog – that’s just a block or two west, this leafy spot locals love for picnics or escaping the concrete. Food-wise, you’re spoiled; Hardware Lane is steps away with its laneway cafes serving up killer flat whites and pasta – I grabbed dinner there one night and it was spot-on. Minor gripe? The Wi-Fi can lag a tad during peak hours, but nothing that ruined the stay, and the balcony (if you get one facing east) catches these amazing sunrises over the skyline. It’s got that four-star polish without feeling over-the-top – clean lines, a washer-dryer that came in handy after a rainy day exploring the laneways, and even a little welcome pack with local teas, which was a nice touch.

All in all, if you’re heading to Melbourne and want something that feels authentic rather than touristy – especially for a family or group, since those three bedrooms spread out the cost nicely – Serenity Stayz is a solid pick. It’s got a 9/10 rating for a reason; you can dive into the city’s energy (think street art on Hosier Lane, a quick walk south) but retreat to your own space at night. I left feeling like I’d actually lived a slice of Melbourne life, not just visited – and yeah, I’d book it again in a heartbeat, maybe in winter when the CBD quiets down a bit after dark.

It did take a little while to find the place with the keys, but it was quick and easy to get once we found the place

  • Melissa from Australia (10/10)

The apartment was absolutely beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the view was amazing. Everything was clean and decorated stunningly. There were so many complimentary items in the cupboard and milk in the fridge. The building was beautiful and located close to tram stops, train station, and supermarkets. We even walked to crown and sea life. At the end of our stay I honestly didn’t want to leave. We had a very comfortable stay 🥰 kids loved the pool.
The host was lovely and communication fantastic. I’ve read reviews people found key pick up annoying but it’s honestly just a short walk and we didn’t find it out of our way or annoying at all.
