Sky High View 2 Bedroom Apartment in Southbank

I remember pulling up to the Sky High View 2 Bedroom Apartment on Southbank Boulevard – you know, that stretch right along the Yarra where the promenade buzzes with joggers and street performers in the evenings. It’s smack in the middle of Southbank, just a quick wander from the Crown Casino if you’re into that vibe, or over the bridge to Flinders Street Station for catching a train to the markets. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first because parking in this area can be a nightmare – those metered spots on City Road fill up fast, especially on weekends when everyone’s flocking to the NGV or the arts centre. But the building has its own secure garage (you’ll need to buzz in with a code), which saved me from circling for ages. Check-in was a breeze; it’s one of those self-service deals with a key lockbox – no fuss, no waiting in a lobby line, though I did fumble with the app for a minute in the rain. Stepping inside, though, that view hit me like a Melbourne sunrise: floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and the city skyline, all twinkling at dusk. It’s on a high floor – I think the 20th or so – so you get that sweeping panorama without the street noise creeping in too much, except maybe the faint ding of trams on St Kilda Road if you crack the balcony door open.
What really sets this place apart, I mean, beyond the 4-star polish, is how it feels like a proper home base rather than some sterile hotel room. The two bedrooms are spacious – one with a king bed that was ridiculously comfy, all crisp white linens and pillows that actually support your neck (none of that flat-as-a-pancake stuff). The other’s got twins, perfect for kids or mates tagging along. There’s a full kitchen with a decent stove and dishwasher – I whipped up brekkie one morning using goodies from the South Melbourne Market, just a 10-minute stroll away. And the living area? It’s got this cozy sectional sofa facing the TV, but honestly, you’ll spend more time on the balcony sipping coffee, watching the ferries glide by or the lights from Eureka Tower flickering at night. It’s rated a solid 9.5 for a reason; everything’s clean and modern, with little touches like fresh towels and a welcome pack of local teas. That said, it’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during peak evening hours when everyone’s streaming, and the air con can be a tad noisy if you’re a light sleeper. But in busy seasons like summer or during the Australian Open, when Southbank’s packed with crowds spilling out from the tennis centre, this spot feels like a quiet retreat up in the clouds. Mornings are peaceful too, with the scent of nearby cafes wafting up – think fresh croissants from that little bakery on Clarendon Street.
Look, if you’re heading to Melbourne and want more than a cramped room – say, for a family trip or a romantic getaway with space to breathe – this apartment’s a gem. It’s got that authentic Southbank energy without overwhelming you, and at that price point, it’s way better value than squeezing into something downtown. I’ve stayed in a few spots around here, and this one left me actually excited to return; you wake up to those views, step out to the river walk, and bam, you’re in the heart of it all. Just book ahead for those shoulder seasons in spring or autumn when it’s less hectic – trust me, you won’t regret it.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Melbourne around Carlton for Italian cafés, indie cinemas, and leafy park picnics.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect for a weekend away in the city The location was perfect no need to drive as the free city circle tram was a 5 minute walk across the river. Views from the apartment were amazing
What could be improved: The carpets in the bedroom were a little stained. The use of the swimming pool was not alllowrf due to the necessary inductions that were not available on a daily basis
Luxury with amazing views Wonderful check in, lovely staff. The apartment is amazing, the views are extraordinary, beds very comfortable (including the pull out sofa!), kitchen had everything needed except a bread board. Very clean and very comfortable.
