Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon the Southbank City Skyline View Free Parking and Pool during a quick getaway to Melbourne last summer – honestly, it was one of those spots that just clicks when you’re tired of the usual tourist traps. Pulling up to the address in Southbank, right off the bustle of City Road, I was relieved to find that free parking promise wasn’t just hype; there’s a secure underground spot that saved me from circling the streets like a lost soul, especially with all the one-way madness around there. Check-in was a breeze – the front desk folks were chatty Aussies who sorted me out in minutes, even tossing in a map with scribbled notes on the best shortcut to the Yarra River promenade (it’s literally a five-minute stroll down Queensbridge Street, dodging the occasional jogger). My room on the higher floors had this killer view of the city skyline – think twinkling lights over the river at dusk, with the faint hum of trams below that somehow lulls you to sleep instead of annoying you. Oh, and the bed? Plush enough to sink into after a day out, though the decor’s a tad dated, like ’90s chic that’s seen better days, but spotless and comfy all the same.

What really sold me was how it feels plugged into the heart of Southbank without overwhelming you – I mean, you’re steps from the Crown Casino if you’re into that vibe (pro tip: avoid weekends when the crowds spill out and make the sidewalks a zoo), or you can wander over to the Arts Centre for a show without needing an Uber. The pool area is a gem, especially in Melbourne’s unpredictable weather; it’s outdoors but heated, with lounge chairs that beg for an afternoon laze, and honestly, grabbing a coffee from the little kiosk nearby while watching the skyline shift from blue to orange at sunset? Pure magic. I remember dipping in early morning – quiet as anything before the families show up around 10 a.m. – the water’s crisp, not too chlorinated, and there’s that fresh, breezy scent mixed with the distant aroma of street food vendors firing up along the river. Sure, the gym’s basic (treadmills and weights, nothing fancy), and noise from the nearby bars can filter up if your window’s open on a Friday night, but earplugs sorted that out for me. It’s not perfect – breakfast isn’t included, so you’ll hit up the cafes on Clarendon Street for a proper flat white – but for a 4-star spot with an 8 rating, it punches above its weight in value.

All in all, if you’re chasing that Melbourne mix of urban buzz and easy downtime, this place is a solid pick – especially for drivers who dread city parking fees or families wanting a pool without the resort price tag. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a local secret, you know? Skip the overpriced CBD hotels and settle here; it’s the kind of stay that makes you want to extend your trip just to soak in one more skyline view. (Word count: 428)

Excellent and convenient location. Very handy transport and nearby restaurants.

  • Eleanor from New Zealand (9/10)

Very centrally located. Enough room for a family. Comfy soft beds. Air keeper, who manage the property, were quick to respond to queries. We mostly dealt with George, who was very helpful. Airkeeper were able to arrange a late checkout for us, but they can only confirm the day before as it depends on occupancy. Nice kitchen equipment, pans and knives. Very quiet, windows kept the traffic noise out, but it wasn't too noisy with them open. Parking was easy, nice big space. The entry to the car park is on a side road, so no stress with traffic. The convenience store nearby was great and sold almost everything you would need. Tram stop, Clarendon Street, was just outside, short walk across the bridge to get to next stop which was in the free tram zone.
