Southbank, River View, Free Parking
I remember pulling up to the Southbank, River View, Free Parking on Kavanagh Street – you know, that spot in Southbank where the Yarra River bends just right, and you're basically a stone's throw from the city without being smack in the middle of the chaos.
I remember pulling up to the Southbank, River View, Free Parking on Kavanagh Street – you know, that spot in Southbank where the Yarra River bends just right, and you’re basically a stone’s throw from the city without being smack in the middle of the chaos. It’s at 3104/60 Kavanagh, and honestly, finding it was a breeze even with Melbourne’s notorious one-way streets throwing me for a loop. I arrived mid-afternoon during peak hour, trams clanging along nearby Flinders Street, but the free parking – oh man, that’s a godsend in this part of town. No circling blocks like you do around the CBD, just pull right in and forget about it. The building itself has that modern apartment vibe, not too flashy, but with these huge windows that immediately tease the river view. Check-in was smooth, the host (it’s more like a serviced apartment setup) handed over the keys with a quick rundown – “Watch for the events at the MCG if you’re here in summer, it gets lively” – and I was up in my room before I knew it. Stepping inside, the place felt lived-in but spotless, with that fresh linen smell mixed with a faint whiff of the eucalyptus from the balcony plants. Well, sort of – Melbourne’s air always has that crisp edge, especially when a southerly breeze kicks in off the river.
What really sold me was how it balances that urban buzz with actual comfort, you know? The room – I had one on a higher floor – overlooked the Yarra, and mornings were magic with the sun glinting off the water while joggers zipped along the promenade below. It’s a four-star spot, but it punches above with little touches like a full kitchen (stocked with basics, which saved me from overpriced room service) and these plush, sink-right-in beds that make you forget the day’s walking. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Southbank eateries – think fresh pasta at that Italian joint on the corner of City Road, or grabbing a flat white from the cafes lining the river walk. Noise-wise, it’s not dead quiet; you can hear the faint hum of Crown Casino’s crowds if there’s a big show on, but the double glazing keeps it mellow – I slept like a log even during a busy weekend. Free parking meant I could ditch the car and wander over to the Arts Centre or hop the bridge to Flinders Street Station for trams anywhere. Oh, and the Wi-Fi? Blazing fast, which was clutch for streaming after a day out – though fair warning, the elevator can get a bit crowded during check-out rushes.
All in all, if you’re hitting Melbourne and want that sweet spot between convenience and chill, this place is a winner – rated 9.5 for good reason. It’s not perfect; the bathroom’s a tad compact if you’re traveling with a group, but for solo or couples, it’s ideal. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the jacarandas bloom along the river paths and everything feels alive. You get the views, the perks like parking that actually matter in a city where spots are gold, and that authentic Southbank energy without feeling like a tourist trap. Trust me, after a few stays around here, this one’s the one that sticks.

What Our Guests Say
Location view size fit for purpose
Very comfortable furniture and all amenities provided.
Great communication from host. Very clean apartment with high end finishes. We had everything we needed, the bubbles were a nice surprise! Supermarket is across the street and restaurants and cafes are close by. Highly recommend.
Great location and price. The property was very clean and the host was very accommodating to our requests.
The apartment has great views and is exceptionally well supplied with everything we needed. Security is very good with a tap and go lift system and main entry point. Parking space provided was wide with plenty of room to open doors and get children out of car seats. The front desk always had someone in attendance, who was very helpful and friendly. Two (2) bathrooms and both are great with plenty of very good products to use and plenty of toilet rolls available. FREE parking is such a bonus and right in the CBD at Southbank. It was the perfect pre-Christmas stay for a family from rural Victoria. Thank you very much.
