The Hamptons Apartments – Port Melbourne Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Hamptons Apartments – Port Melbourne, you immediately get that “oh, this is different” feeling. It’s not your typical hotel setup — these are proper serviced apartments that feel more like staying in someone’s really nice place rather than a generic hotel room. The building itself has this modern, understated elegance that fits perfectly with Port Melbourne’s evolving character. You know what I mean? It’s polished without being pretentious.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location on Nott Street is pretty brilliant. You’re in Port Melbourne but not stuck in the touristy bits — this feels like actual Melbourne living. The tram into the city center takes about 15 minutes, which is honestly faster than driving most days. What I really love is that you can walk to the waterfront in about ten minutes, and there’s this whole strip of cafes and restaurants along Bay Street that locals actually use. Couples seem to absolutely love it here (I can see why — it’s got that romantic, away-from-it-all vibe while still being connected).
The Apartment Experience
These aren’t just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge thrown in — they’re actual apartments with proper kitchens, living areas, and space to spread out. The four-star rating feels about right; everything’s well-appointed without being flashy. I mean, you’ve got full-sized appliances, decent cookware if you want to grab groceries from the South Melbourne Market, and enough space that you don’t feel like you’re living on top of each other. The balconies are a nice touch too — some have water glimpses if you crane your neck just right.
Practical Perks
Here’s something that actually matters when you’re traveling — they have private parking on site. In Melbourne, that’s honestly a game-changer, especially in this area where street parking can be a bit of a nightmare. The apartments come with laundry facilities too, which is perfect for longer stays or if you’re like me and somehow always spill coffee on yourself. The Wi-Fi is solid (I worked from here a few days without issues), and the whole building feels secure and well-maintained.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it strikes that balance between independence and service. You get the freedom of having your own space — cook breakfast if you want, lounge around in the living room, actually unpack your clothes — but there’s still housekeeping and front desk support when you need it. It’s particularly great for couples or small groups who want to experience Melbourne more like locals than tourists. The fact that recent guests rated the location so highly (and I can see why) really speaks to how well-positioned you are for both city exploration and waterfront relaxation. It’s one of those places where you could easily extend your stay and not feel like you’re stuck in hotel-land.

Apartment was well positioned in Port Melbourne. Close to beach, restaurants, supermarket and the tram was 5 min walk away. Apartment was spacious and clean. There was a communal rooftop which had a fantastic view of the City especially at night. The apartment was very family friendly with a good size balcony.
