Treetops in Toorak 2br midcentury entire apartment
You know, I stumbled upon Treetops in Toorak kind of by accident last spring – I was in Melbourne for a quick getaway, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much from an apartment listing in such a swanky suburb.
You know, I stumbled upon Treetops in Toorak kind of by accident last spring – I was in Melbourne for a quick getaway, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment listing in such a swanky suburb. But pulling up to 723 Orrong Road, right there in the heart of Toorak, it hit me how perfectly it blends into those leafy, upscale streets. Orrong’s one of those quiet roads lined with massive gums and heritage homes – you feel like you’re in a posh village, not smack in the city. The place is this midcentury gem, a two-bedroom apartment that’s got that retro charm without trying too hard. Check-in was a breeze; it’s self-contained, so they just emailed the code ahead of time, no fussing with front desks or anything. I parked right out front – parking’s actually decent here, even during peak hours when folks are commuting to the CBD, which is only about a 10-minute drive north on Toorak Road. Well, unless it’s rush hour, then maybe add five minutes for the traffic buildup near the Monash Freeway on-ramp.
Stepping inside, it’s like walking into a time capsule – think clean lines, polished wooden floors that creak just a little underfoot (in a cozy way, not annoying), and these huge windows that frame the treetops outside, hence the name, I suppose. The living area smells faintly of eucalyptus from the garden below, and there’s this vintage bar cart in the corner that’s stocked with local gins – a nice touch if you’re into mixing your own drinks after a day out. The two bedrooms are spacious; the main one’s got a queen bed that’s super comfy, with linens that feel like they’ve been washed a hundred times (soft, not stiff). Kitchen’s fully equipped – I whipped up brekkie using stuff from the Toorak Village market just a short stroll down Toorak Road, where you can grab fresh croissants and coffee from those little artisanal spots locals swear by. It’s quiet at night, too; no tram rattles or bar noise like you’d get closer to Chapel Street in South Yarra – though, fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, the occasional magpie chorus at dawn might wake you (Australian birds, am I right?). Oh, and the bathroom’s got that midcentury tile work, but the shower pressure is spot-on, which is more than I can say for some fancier hotels I’ve stayed in.
All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels like a real home base in Melbourne’s ritzy inner east – close enough to hop over to the Botanic Gardens or grab dinner at those hidden gems on Hawksburn Village – Treetops is a winner. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can lag a bit during evenings when everyone’s streaming, but nothing a quick reset didn’t fix. At a 9.6 rating, it’s earned it – I mean, for a four-star apartment, it punches above its weight with that authentic midcentury vibe and the way it lets you live like a local. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in autumn when the leaves turn and Orrong feels even more magical. If Melbourne’s on your list, skip the sterile chains and give this place a shot – you won’t regret it.
