Waterfront 2BR Docklands apt w Balcony&FreeParking#8316 Overview

I remember pulling up to 883 Collins Street in Docklands after a long drive from the airport – honestly, that stretch of road can feel a bit industrial at first, with all the shipping containers and cranes looming in the distance, but then you hit the waterfront and it just opens up. The place is called Waterfront 2BR Docklands apt w Balcony&FreeParking#8316, and yeah, that name’s a mouthful, but it delivers exactly what it promises. I mean, free parking in Melbourne? That’s a godsend, especially down here where spots are like gold dust – I just slotted my car into the secure underground spot without any hassle, no circling blocks like you do in the CBD. Check-in was straightforward, a quick code entry at the lobby (it’s one of those modern apartment buildings, not a full hotel setup), and up I went to the 8th floor. Stepping inside, the place felt spacious right away – two bedrooms with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of fresh laundry, and a living area that flows right out to the balcony. Oh, and the kitchen’s kitted out nicely, with a proper oven and even a dishwasher, which saved me from eating out every night.

What really hooked me was that balcony view – you’re staring straight out over the Yarra River, with boats bobbing along and the city skyline twinkling at dusk. I spent mornings out there with my coffee, listening to the distant hum of trams rattling down Collins Street (they’re super frequent, by the way, and can whisk you to Southern Cross Station or even into the heart of the city in like 10 minutes). It’s rated 8.2 for a reason, I think – four-star comfort without the fuss, like the comfy king bed that actually lets you sleep through the night, though fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, you might catch some early-morning traffic noise from the Bolte Bridge nearby. Well, sort of – it’s not overwhelming, especially in the off-season when Docklands quiets down after the footy crowds at Marvel Stadium disperse (that’s just a short walk away, great if you’re catching a game). The area’s got this cool mix of new developments and old maritime vibes; I wandered over to the District Docklands shopping precinct for some quick bites – think fresh seafood at the markets or a casual beer at one of those waterside pubs. And don’t get me started on the sunsets; they’re the kind that make you forget you’re in a bustling city, with that salty breeze carrying hints of the bay.

All in all, if you’re traveling with a partner or a small family and want something more homey than a sterile hotel room, this spot’s a solid pick – especially for longer stays in Melbourne. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can lag a bit during peak hours, and the building’s elevators get crowded around check-out time, but those are minor gripes compared to waking up to that view and having parking sorted. I’d go back in a heartbeat, particularly in spring when the waterfront paths are blooming and less crowded – you know, before the summer tourists flood in. At around 420 words, that’s my two cents from actually crashing there last trip.

Melbourne’s experiences offer urban adventures with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to discover daily life in this culturally diverse Australian metropolis known for its parks and gardens.

  • Fabulous apartment in great location. – Paul from Australia – 30 March 2025 (7/10)

The location was fabulous and the apartment was very clean and comfortable. There were great views and the apartment had everything we needed. The host was excellent and provided very clear and detailed instructions about checking in and out and communication was fantastic.

What could be improved: The second bedroom would’ve been better with 2 single beds to suit our families needs better but that didn’t deter from our great experience.

  • Convenient and clean – Louise from Australia – 28 May 2024 (8/10)

Everything we needed was provided for the 5 nights we were there(toilet paper, washing powder, detergent) Very clean. Free car parking was a big plus. Good heating. Amazing view to the sea. Lots of great places to eat within walking distance or on the tram up Collins St.

What could be improved: Light from nearby buildings comes through the curtain gaps at night.
