Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Waterfront Melbourne Apartments kind of by accident last winter – I was in town for a quick work trip and needed something that felt more like a home base than a sterile hotel room. Pulling up to 60 Siddeley Street in Docklands, right along the Yarra River, I immediately got that “oh, this is going to be good” vibe. The building’s got this sleek, modern edge with floor-to-ceiling windows that catch the sunlight bouncing off the water – honestly, it’s like staying in one of those fancy lifestyle magazines, but without the pretension. Check-in was a breeze; the staff were these laid-back Aussies who handed over my keycard with a chat about the best tram routes into the CBD (hop on the 70 or 86 from right outside, and you’re in Flinders Street in under 10 minutes). I mean, Docklands can feel a bit isolated if you’re not used to it – it’s not the bustling heart of Melbourne like Bourke Street – but that’s part of the charm, you get the waterfront serenity without the constant foot traffic.
What really sold me were the apartments themselves – spacious, self-contained units that make you feel like you’ve got your own little slice of Melbourne life. Mine had a balcony overlooking the marina, where I’d sip my morning coffee (there’s a decent kitchenette with a Nespresso machine, thank goodness, because who wants to hunt for a cafe at 7am?) and watch the joggers along the promenade. The beds are plush, the bathrooms stocked with those nice-smelling toiletries that don’t feel cheap, and everything’s spotlessly clean – though, fair warning, if you’re a light sleeper, you might hear the occasional tram rumble or ferry horn from the river, especially in the evenings when the area’s buzzing with after-work crowds heading to spots like the District Docklands for dinner. Parking’s available in the underground lot, but it costs a bit extra (around $25 a night, I think), so if you’re driving, factor that in. Oh, and during peak season like summer or around the Australian Open, book early because it fills up fast with families loving the outdoor pool and gym setup – nothing over-the-top, but solid for a quick swim or workout with river views.
All in all, if you’re after a place that balances that urban edge with some breathing room, Waterfront Melbourne Apartments is a winner – it’s got a solid 8.7 rating for a reason, and I’d give it a 4.5-star nod myself. Sure, it’s not smack in the middle of the laneway cafes (you’ll need to venture to South Wharf or even cross to Southbank for that), but that’s what makes it special: a quiet retreat after a day exploring. I left feeling recharged, and next time I’m in Melbourne, you bet I’ll be back – well, unless I win the lottery and splurge on something even fancier, but honestly, this place punches above its weight.

I loved the location – central to most of the things I wanted to do and see. I'm that happy I have booked for my family in September and hoping to get a river view.
